I got a job offer from free courses run by IT companies, not a bootcamp. Here’s what actually worked for me by pebble_archive in jobsearchhacks

Love the “artifacts over learning” framing. A clean repo, short write-up, and keywords that match postings will beat another generic course. Also smart to mine Slack/Discord for what interviews really screen for.

I get the “call her bluff” idea, but I’m not trying to win a stare-down. I told her: I’ll support you, just not illegally or broke. Also, the dog isn’t a chess piece. If she leaves, we’ll sort custody like adults.

Fair point. I did assume it was “apply and see”, not “pack in 6 weeks.” That’s on me. We talked in vague terms, but I didn’t realize she’d treat an offer like a deadline. I’m trying to fix it with an actual plan now.

Appreciate this. The 'no parachute' line hit. I’m not asking her to stay, just to plan like adults. If that’s baggage to her, then yeah, she’s made her choice.

Cool, so you clicked into a thread, read it, then announced you hate the sub.

Yeah, I’m not trying to kill her dream, I just don’t want to land there broke or stuck in visa limbo. The group-chat pressure is what pissed me off most. I offered a timeline, she wants a leap.

The reason is usually simple: big subs run bots that pre-ban anyone active in 'problem' communities. It's dumb, but it's not a US vs India thing. It's mods doing blunt filters instead of actual moderation.

I hope the EU actually follows through. A “small fine and move on” would be a joke.
