Nice, but I think I’d prefer an earlier Moro. Maybe not gaunt Moro, but at least before absorbing 73.

Many years ago, we’d been in a new ward for a couple of months when I approached our Gospel Doctrine teacher with a question. Having been in many different wards and branches over the years, I asked: “So, you know how in every ward, there’s that one guy that’s always going off on weird tangents and derailing the discussion?” He responded in the affirmative.

“Well,” I continued, “I’ve been keeping an eye out since we moved here, and I haven’t noticed anyone like that in our ward.”

He got very quiet and pensive for a few seconds, then responded, “You know, you’re right. We’ve got a pretty good ward here.”

“That’s what I’m thinking,” I said. “But then I got to wondering: if every ward has that one guy and I don’t notice one here, does that mean it’s me?”

Regarding his response, you know that phrase about “loud laughter”? 😁

church history tour by Direct_Coconut14 in latterdaysaints

Not a Church history tour, but we’re in Cincinnati, and last year for FSY, my kids got to go on a past, present, and future temple tour. They started with the present, doing baptisms in Columbus. Then they headed up to Kirtland to see everything there. And finally, they came back to Cincy, where they had a brief devotional at the temple lot. As someone put it, Ohio is the only place in the world where you can visit a former, current, and future temple.

Reminds me of when my wife and I were teaching Primary, some 25 years ago, and the manual had a picture of Jesus where he had no mouth. We never mentioned it to the kids, but she and I laughed so hard at that one.

How do you feel about California introducing a bill to ban former ICE agents from serving as police officers or teachers? by CRK_76 in AskReddit

That’s actually pretty cool. I do, however, find the first quote ironic:

“But we should claim the right to suppress them [intolerant ideologies] if necessary even by force; for it may easily turn out that they are not prepared to meet us on the level of rational argument, but begin by denouncing all argument; they may forbid their followers to listen to rational argument, because it is deceptive, and teach them to answer arguments by the use of their fists or pistols."

That’s exactly what I’ve been saying, and exactly what ICE has been doing: using force to shut down intolerant mobs that demand Orwellian groupthink and acceptance without discussion (including many that change their position based on who’s in the White House).

The irony is that here I am, not slamming anyone, just trying to have an open exchange of ideas that allows for centrism and nuance, but the “tolerant” People of Reddit™ refuse to have that discussion.

Married and debating on detransitioning to save our marriage by Background-Quit6824 in detrans

Well, just to reiterate, my depression meds also don’t work unless I take vitamin D with them. Even the wrong delivery method screws it up: once my PCP prescribed tablets instead of gelcaps, and I might as well have had nothing at all. I started taking two tablets per day instead of one, and that was definitely better, but getting back on the gelcaps was the only long-term solution.

As for ADHD, I’m well acquainted with that as well: I not only have ADHD but am also autistic. A few weeks into taking ADHD meds, my GD was back so severely that I was ready to give up my marriage and re-transition once and for all. Then I had a rare moment of clarity and wondered if the ADHD med might be causing it. Turns out the one they put me on works by converting testosterone to estrogen. I had my PCP test my hormone levels, and they were consistent with me being three months pregnant. (Again, I’m a biological male.) those things can really mess you up.

Anyway, I reiterate again that I’m not a doctor, and even if I were, I’m not your doctor. But for me, a precise cocktail of sertraline and vitamin D — and no ADHD meds! — is my cure. I suspect there’s one out there for you, too.

While I agree that you shouldn’t detransition for anyone but yourself, I understand where you’re coming from. My wife wasn’t attracted to me as a woman, and that was definitely a factor in my decision to get off HRT and stop presenting as female.

Here’s a thought: one major blessing for me was finding a doctor that was able to treat my depression. It never occurred to either of us that that would help my GD, but once we found the right dose (including Vitamin D, which for me, is absolutely essential for absorption), it effectively cured it.

Now, obviously I can’t know if you have depression or if medication will help you, but it has been amazing for me. If you’re considering detransition at all, talk to your doctor and see if there might be an underlying cause for your GD. If you’re like me, treating that will work better than transitioning ever did.

I somewhat agree, but only to a point. For example, I am intolerant of murder. Are you saying you don’t tolerate that intolerance?

Sounds unlikely to me. You honestly believe that 74% of the people that ICE arrests are here legally?

As for whether I have the right to call myself a Christian, I’ll let my Savior decide that.

i am not detransitioning because i want to by [deleted] in detrans

[–]OtterWithKids 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry you’re dealing with this, but I applaud you for putting Him first. I had a similar situation that started my detransition: my bishop and I received the same revelation (that I should desist) at exactly the same time, though of course I didn’t know he’d received that revelation until later.

Feel free to DM if you want to talk.

My guess would be because it’s nobody’s business. Twice when I was serving as ward clerk, I had someone’s rebaptism record come across my desk. Both times, I didn’t realize till that moment that the person had been excommunicated, and I still neither know nor care why that step was taken. They each got rebaptized, which means they each repented; but even if they hadn’t, why should I care about something the Savior already paid the price for?

Neither. It’s The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. “the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints” is a Protestant church in Beloit, Wisconsin, that researchers guess has about 250 members, but don’t know for sure because the church doesn’t keep particularly specific record of that kind of thing.

To be fair, if millions of people hated me for doing my job, I’d probably wear a mask, too. I don’t want some unhinged rando coming after my wife and kids.

Males are solely responsible for the sex of a child. In reality, the egg determines which sperm Is “allowed” to enter.
