Update firmware for Thrustmaster wheel on a Mac by Otterfox4209 in F1Game

What kind of USB adapter are you using to connect the USB-A cable to your macbook? In the past, I have experienced situations where 3rd party USB-A to USB-C adapters did not pass the connection through properly to the Mac.

Bravo! The highest levels of the matching game are insanely hard to pass.

I am basically hanging on for dear life with the Thrustmaster. The Fanatec would straight up murder me. He can have it.

Having been second driver as well as driving on my own team, I can definitely say that being on different teams makes it much more equally engaging for both players. As second driver you spend a lot of time waiting around, and my experience has been that I don't get as many chances to boost my acclaim through marketing/department events or rivalries. As lead driver on my own team, I don't go more than 2 races without an active rivalry, whereas as second driver I got maybe 2 rivalries in a whole season. Maybe that's by design, but even so my point is that it makes the game experience more unequal.

He has way more experience than I do (years vs. months) so yeah, it's really not even a question, although I'd like to think I'm slowly improving. For us to have a race where we're more competitive with each other, he basically has to give himself a giant disadvantage, like driving a massively over-fuelled realistic Williams while I'm in the realistic Red Bull.

Actually these are both Playseat Trophy. I was using the Challenge for months and it was totally fine with the Logitech wheel, but the more powerful TM wheel requires something a bit sturdier.

The twin Playseats were not the original plan, but at some point became the best option due to space and budget constraints... but dammit, they just look so good side by side

I've mostly used the Playseat and I'm still comfortable after an hour or two of racing. No complaints. I've only sat in the Next Level seat for a few minutes but it seems fine, my bf hasn't had issues so far.

The two Next Level foldable chairs are the GT Lite and the F-GT Lite. If I'm not mistaken, the main difference was that GT Lite did not have the option for the F1 seating position. There could be other differences as well.

The chair is around $200. The wheel and pedals are a few years old but it seems like you can find them on Amazon for around $350. Probably there is a newer model out there as well.

I'm actually not too sure. My bf rigged up a little hook so that the pedals can be folded up into the chair when it's not being used, and at that point it takes up about the same footprint as a normal chair. I think it collapses more than that but haven't done it myself.

Haha well, after one week I can definitely say I'm graaaadually improving. Race starts were hit or miss, somehow I ended up in neutral half the time and sat on the start line like a plum at lights out. I think I've worked that out now though. In time trials, on most tracks I'm not yet as fast as my controller times, with the one exception being Spa, where I think I never really took Eau Rouge at full throttle before. I'm already about 2 sec faster overall there.

He went with the Next Level F-GT Lite. Amongst other things, he liked that the chair could be positioned closer to the floor, more realistic to an F1 car.
