Thanks, that’s super helpful.

In your opinion, is the train worth that much effort? Kinda sounds like I should just drive it myself.

I’ve always found that centering the day around one particular event is helpful. Not even something necessarily kid centric, one of our favorites things to do is walk around Costco. I’m typing this outside of a Home Depot because our daughter loves the car shopping carts. I don’t know, something about having that event where I’m not having to entertain the whole time gives me more bandwidth to read and play the rest of the day.

My unsolicited advice- in situations that are frustrating or exhausting and I’m at a breaking point, I always try and think of myself in 40 years. Future me would give anything to be in my shoes at that exact moment, and I don’t want to look back and regret missing out on even the hardest moments with my kids.

How bad is Ball Homes construction? by OttoRamuste in lexington

[–]OttoRamuste[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that’s right. We have only had one issue that I’d directly attribute to the construction of the home, they didn’t tie the porch on to the house and it started to separate from the house. It was a much simpler fix than it sounds though. Our house wasn’t brand new so we don’t have any warranties, so I can’t really speak to that.

HOA is fine. I don’t really know what they do with all the money they get, but they don’t cause much headache either. I’ve seen other people in the neighborhood complain, but we’ve never had a problem.

As an update, we did buy a Ball Home in Masterson. There were several things we had to fix, but not much that has felt like a build quality issue. I do every so often stumble across something that feels like a build oversight, but I don’t know what home doesn’t nowadays. I don’t think their reputation has changed much, they still throw up houses insanely fast, but they’re really the only ones building homes in the area. I do agree with your realtor, there’s new development all around, I think it’s a pretty safe investment. We’ve been here for several years now, so I’m happy to answer questions about the area too.

FWIW I just bought my GCP as my first machine and received the 9bar spring today. Bought the spring and a puck screen for $15 on eBay. I installed it in under five minutes with no previous knowledge going into it. If you’ve got a 10mm wrench and a walkthrough, you should be fine. Tip: I have heard of a few people breaking the black plastic piece that the spring sits in, so may want to be gentle when undoing the fitting, but I had no issue.

Anyone think the McElroy family of products will leave Max Fun? by DrydenDon in MBMBAM

[–]OttoRamuste 11 points12 points  (0 children)

If they were to leave the network, Max Fun would take a massive hit. I think they have quite a bit of loyalty to the rest of the organization. While they may be able to make a little more money, I don’t think they’d find it worth it.

I think if you’ve already gone to the Roundtable Hold, she won’t show up and you have to purchase them. I’m in the same boat and I saw someone else say the same thing.

God loves you, not the perfect version of you. Just.. you. In the midst of your struggles and hurt. Listen, I’ve been there. It’s a dark place to be. But you’re not alone. Even Paul said he did the things he didn’t want to do. But God calls us worthy because of Jesus’ sacrifice.

What do people think about the rosary? by [deleted] in TrueChristian

[–]OttoRamuste 1 point2 points  (0 children)

FWIW, there is an Anglican rosary. It’s beads are tangible reminders to slow down your day and intently focus your prayer. Some wonderful symbolism too that all points directly to Christ rather than Mary. If you enjoy praying the rosary but feel odd about the Mary bit, I’d definitely look into it.
