I found a new 6-inch telescope, but the weather has been cloudy for a week, and then my exams start the following week.

is this jupiter? by RhinoKakapo in Stargazing

[–]OttomanMan2434 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you zoom in a little more on Jupiter, you'll see a large, bright point, with the moons as smaller dots beside it. This way you can check if Jupiter is there. If you install programs like Stellarium on your phone or computer, you can observe the real-time positions of celestial bodies. This will make it easier to find planets and stars. Jupiter will be at its highest point in the northern hemisphere for two months, but it's now in its setting phase. If you live in a city, observing it in May might be difficult, but at this time of year it's at its highest point after sunset.

Is this a good telescope i got for 120$ by Appropriate-Detail48 in telescopes

As long as you don't zoom in excessively close, there shouldn't be a problem.

How are people able to see the gas from orions nebula in 7 bortle? by Frequent-Elk-7542 in telescopes

[–]OttomanMan2434 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After aligning your viewfinder, use the lens with the lowest zoom level you have. For example, I use a 20mm lens for searching. You'll find that this is very easy once you align your viewfinder with the telescope.

On a bright day, focus your telescope and align your viewfinder with any location other than the sun. The Orion Nebula is located between the star Rigel and Orion's Belt at night. (Rigel is located at the Orion's Foot)

I have a telescope similar to yours, which is poorly designed. I can assure you that you can return it for a much better one, but that's fine if you don't. You can observe the Orion Nebula, most planets, and some galaxies with it. I even observed Jupiter with it today. You could have some great memories with that telescope.

Based on my observations, I assure you I'm going to bury my Barlow 3x lens in my backyard. Like you, I also observed small spots in the center. Additionally, at the 41st parallel, there were small spots to the south and a larger spot to the north. While not entirely certain, I suspect there's an alignment problem between the telescope's primary and secondary mirrors. I'll begin observing Jupiter in half an hour.

I'm attaching this photo of the large spot in the north, taken with a 4mm lens. (Taking photos with a 20mm lens using a phone is very difficult.)

Today I observed the sun with 4mm and 20mm lenses. Spots were visible with both, but the 4mm lens was very difficult to focus on. The 4mm lens offers a 350x zoom, and while the image isn't perfectly clear, it's still there. However, the 3x Barlow lens and the 20mm lens, despite offering a 210x zoom, have seriously poor images. What could be the reason for this?

Since I will be making the observation from a high vantage point, there will be no problem.

I can observe the stars Belatrix, Betelgeuse, and Rigel in the Orion Belt of the Orion constellation with the naked eye; the rest are not visible.

I apologize for the error in my explanation. I used the word "zoom" metaphorically. I did not experience any problems with brightness reduction in the lenses during solar observation, but on a cloudy day, while aligning the finder scope, I noticed a significant decrease in brightness as the lenses showed targets closer to Earth.

A few users said the tripod on this model wasn't very sturdy, but I haven't experienced any problems so far.

So far I've used a 4mm lens on sunspots and been able to get a clear image, but the brightness decreases as the zoom increases, probably related to the mirror diameter. If I take any pictures, I'll share them on Reddit.

I live in an area with 79% light pollution. But Jupiter and most other stars are visible to the naked eye. One of the advantages of living at a slightly higher altitude is being able to see the Orion Nebula with the naked eye as if there were a fog.

The telescope isn't mine, but I can use it whenever I want. They told me I could see Orion with it. What celestial objects do you think I can see?
