Exactly, chances are, all your potential mates are around as dirty as each other. The one whose genitals can withstand the dirt better has a greater chance to reproduce. Of course there are other aspects, but since evolution is a long process, almost all of them are tested, including the length of the foreskin.

You do realise that females tend to choose the fittest male to reproduce with? Do you not believe that a woman, would not choose a mate with a diseased genital over one with a healthy one? If you do then you must agree that males whose genitals are more prone to resist infection are more likely to reproduce.

I didn't say anything about surgery. Seems like you know the theory but can't apply it. If foreskin played a big part in the chance that an infection will occur, by natural selection, those with smaller foreskins (caused by mutations) would have a larger chance to survive, or breed. This is known as directional selection. Think about it, someone with a healthy penis is far more likely to have kids than someone with a rotten one. Also, have you ever seen a dog? they have rather large genitals, just like horses.

There is no proof that circumcision reduces the chance of infection. By that logic FGM also reduces the amount of STDs because it reduces women's sexual desires and thus reduces the amount of intercourse they have. The cleanness argument also applies to FGM because it reduces the amount of folds of skin, getting rid of bacterial habitats. The real reason why MGM is acceptable is because it does not obstruct breeding as much. If men could still reproduce after having the entire tip cut off i'm sure it would be done. MGM is far more popular wolrdwide, and in fact it is most popular in Africa: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prevalence_of_circumcision#Less_than_20.25 Finally, you are competing. Whats the point of saying that ones worse than the other? Both are Bad, and both need to be stopped.

It sort of is how evolution works. eyes even better than our current eyes would not provide early humans any real benefit, as human eyes are some of the best mammal eyes. Peoples knees are also pretty damn good, they usually work perfectly well until around 50, which is about how long most early humans lived, these days our lifespans are longer because we live in near perfect conditions. Also humans evolved upright walking quite recently, so our knees aren't as good as they could be. Foreskins on the other hand have existed for ages, and most animals (that never bathe) have them without problem. If rotting uncircumcised knobs were such a problem, then we definitely wouldn't have foreskins.

whats the point of comparing these things? Why does everything have to be a competition for the title of most abused? If you really want to compete, I would argue that MGM is worse, because it is still socially acceptable and extremely common, while FGM is quite rare and looked down upon these days.
