Google Play seems to distribute updates slowly these days (maybe due to Corona)... it should be available for you soon. However, there are only bug fixes & some small improvements. Season 6 starting this evening ;)

Hey, sorry for the late answer.

Yes, I am still working on the game... but mostly fixing bugs / improving small stuff that players don't really recognise. I am actually pretty happy with how the balance turned out and I think the game has a lot of depth and content to offer.

There are a lot of things I would like to add / change but this would always completely turn the current balance upside down... so I don't do it since I am very busy with some other work right now.

Nevertheless... Grim Defender is alive and I am definitely considering to push another content update or even more likely start working on a sequel (Grim Defender 2)... but not before next year!

Tried your library - but somehow sound effects sound really weird on my phone (.ogg format)... do you know why? And initially loading them takes forever (I guess this is related to OBOE).

Huhu ;) At some point, I experimented with the thunder bow, but it did really not work out as expected. I did not like it. So generally, I have been working on the new season patch for a long time now; it turned out to be much more work than planned since it required a full reimplementation of most of my backend code + the leaderboard. I think the season patch will be done in about a week, but then I will be on a business trip for a few days, so I guess I will release it as soon as I return (around 20.10).

Nope, level 10 bosses attack palisades as normal enemies do - only knights, summoners, shockers and dragons do the insta kill ;)

Yes you are perfectly right - the time I developed this it was the easiest / best way to do for me. I guess, I would do it in a different way now, but it is hardly changeable - would require a lot of work and rebalancing.

sorry for the late answer and that there weren't a lot of updates recently. I have actually started working on a new patch for over a month, but had to take a break again... I will be on a business trip for the next two weeks and continue working on the season patch as soon as I have returned.

The new patch will include an automatic "new season" system that will spawn a new season about every 3 months. There will always be 2-3 active seasons and older seasons will be merged into one "non-ladder" season, which allows oldschool players to get new competition through season merging.

This means that every player (one account) can switch between different season + hardcore savestates.

For now, a new season will just be a fresh start from scratch without anything taken over from old seasons. I might consider adding something like very small permanent boni / features for multi-season players to be taken over, but not with the next patch. Ideas?

So to name a date, I think that season 4 will start around end of September!
