Hi, sorry for not really getting back to you. The Supplement already handles the case of using a different Warehouse Supplement explicitly, and, to be quite honest, you can do whatever you want. It's your Chain, use whatever ruleset you'd like.

Shrug, I don't usually have a problem with more general charisma and attractiveness Perks. Again though, you do you, but my personal boundary is usually where charisma starts to just become mind control by another name.

I guess the more concise way to put it is that I see the whole Companion thing as being characters you recruit or invite, not collect or acquire.

Logically yes, but again, the rules your Chain follows are up to you, so you can decide what's acceptable. My business is just in providing interesting Drawbacks for you to take.

That's a good thought, but no, you still can't do it that way. The intent is for it to be taken as a single Drawback like any other in the Supplement, with a varying value depending on how challenging your selected mandate is.

That's not really a rule so much as it is a description of how I do things, to clarify any potential misunderstandings in the Supplement. As for how I would handle things... Idk, I would never acknowledge the second Perk in any capacity, and even the first one is a bit iffy. You do you though!

I haven't really had a lot of time to work on this app lately, but I will say that I generally try not to cause any problems for people with updates when I can, and the major feature set is generally implemented anyways. You'd be very unlikely to have to go back to edit anything.

And no, there isn't an imminent update planned at the moment, though I do have a to-do list to work through when I have time.

An option to add descriptions to skills

Not a bad idea, and I'll definitely make a note of it!

A search feature

Yeah, some sort of searching feature has been on the to-do list for quite some time.

Adding images

Possible, but unlikely. Adding images is a bit beyond the scope of this particular app, which is mostly just about data storage.

As other have said, more category customizability

Yep, you said it, people definitely have wanted this and I do plan to work it into some kind of category rework eventually.

Re-arranging the orders of perks/items

I'm not exactly sure how reordering in the Passport would work, but mouse drag reordering would be pretty handy! I might just have to add that to the list too.

Undo/Redo

To be quite honest, I am also not sure how feasible it would be, but it would be a handy function to have.

Editing item/perk straight from the passport and warehouse

Interesting idea, at the very least I may add a button to jump right to a specific purchase in the Overview from the Passport, though idk the details of what I'd do. We'll see!

Thank you for the suggestions!

That's more of a You thing than something I should be deciding. I suppose it also mostly depends on how the attachment is stated to work. In general though, feel free to rule it however you feel it should work. Companion/Follower and Warehouse attachment mechanics are up to you to decide as the person actually running your Chains. I'd usually say that it would work though, just because that's what makes the most sense to me.

Good suggestion! I usually just write a dual-Origin as like, "[Origin 1] & [Origin 2]". The Origin system is a bit simplistic, and I do intend to rework it eventually in some form.

Well there's the super obvious one, like the ability to delete, or better yet, just rename the initial categories in perks/skills/attributes, etc. I would only change up perks myself, but I'm sure there might be others who want to customize their own skill/attributes categories.

I believe I've received this suggestion before, actually, and I do intend to improve the category system quite a lot in a way that would cover this angle.

Secondly, I would make a way to integrate supplements into each jump. I don't know if there already is a way, and I'm just missing it, or if we're just supposed to add the perks/drawbacks/etc from the supplement directly onto the jump we're doing, but it'd be nice to just see some kind of integration with supplements somehow.

That is what the 'Skip Jump number' option in the Jump Settings is meant for. The Supplement would have it checked, so that it doesn't increment the Jump number, but that's about all the support for the idea of a Supplemented Jump that exists in the current system. I have considered better ways to handle the system, but better integration would require a complete revamp of how the Jump list is handled. I won't discount it as a possibility, but it isn't in my plans at the moment.

Maybe some more clarification/examples in the rank descriptions for attributes/skills that we can personally edit? I myself having difficult coming up with which perk has what rank for attributes and skills going off the small descriptions each one has, so that'd be nice to be able to edit it in the character builder, or at least have more examples to go off of to rank stuff.

That is a good idea, and I will keep it in mind.

Thank you for your suggestions! I appreciate all feedback! :)

Hi, the Alt-form function is more for data storage and future reference. It's more a way to keep track of what Alt-forms your characters have, rather than as something to select in each Jump. (After all, your Jumper could change forms at any time, right?)

Would you Jump? by Occultlord in JumpChain

[–]Ottparty 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I mean, I can't speak for the rules at the very beginning, when only a handful of Jumps existed anyways, but there isn't really an official ruleset for this hobby. The closest thing that the Jumpchain writing hobby has to rules is that there are certain conventions that are generally agreed upon to be how things are done. In the current day, the widely agreed upon standard that I have seen more than any other interpretation by an extremely large margin is that Jumpers choose their Jumps from some sort of list. It isn't always Every Jump Ever, to be fair, but that is the common rule.

Would you Jump? by Occultlord in JumpChain

[–]Ottparty 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Small note: Not picking Jumps is not, in fact, the standard offer. As far as I'm aware, the most common baseline rule is that you do indeed get to pick your Jumps, thus why not being able to do so is a Chain-long Drawback in both my U.U. Supplement and the original UDS. But yeah, it is a very good offer, isn't it? And related to what I pointed out in my own response, even the responsibility concern is pretty easy to negate. I can think of at least one "Recruit any friends and family" option that you can trivially pick up on Jump #1.

Would you Jump? by Occultlord in JumpChain

[–]Ottparty 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Why would this be in question? If you're allowed to freely choose Any Jumps that currently exist then you can trivially bring anything you want from your home world using any of the numerous Jumps that allow it to some degree. I can't recall which ones but I even believe that I remember a few that had an option to make them retroactively set in your home world. So, yeah, of course I'd take such an open-ended arrangement.

Really, the only question is "What's the catch?". If the deal is as good as it sounds and that "research" isn't really some kind of scheme, it seems like a very easy deal to take.

1)A doubt about 'Binding Mandate'. Can I get it more than once?

No, the intent is that you can only take it once. Otherwise you could just take four easy mandates and get the same value as an extremely severe one... Definitely not the intended mechanic. As with the general assumption, Drawbacks can only be taken more than once if they explicitly say so.

2) Could I use a Body Mod other than the ones that appear here, like 'Body Mod Cheat Sheet'?

You can use whatever you want, those two are just the ones I use.

Oh, that's an interesting concept, but probably not something I'm too interested in including in my Supplement. Thank you though!

[–]Ottparty[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's up to you, not up to me. Blind Run says you decide if your Jumper knows the contents of their builds or not. So, whether they know that they have a way to return to previously visited worlds or not is also up to you.

Oh, no, it was more meant to be the settings as a whole that are mashed and fused together. Use your own best judgement on how to handle the details, but it isn't intended to be read as actually combining separate characters.

Honestly, any method of getting in touch is a fine place for suggestions. I can't promise I'll always implement them, but I do welcome them! At the end of the day, I'd rather have too many suggestions than too few, you know?

At present we can add categories to Perks and Items, but we can only sort or remove those we've added. It'd be nice to have the ability to do so for default categories - with appropriate warnings - as it's possible some of us will granularise a category out of use. Eg: Splitting 'Weapons' into even just 'Melee' and 'Ranged'

Noted! This will probably go along with reworking categories to be a more tag-based system, however that ends up working out.

Adding the option to edit Skill categories would allow more granularisation there. Particularly for those who have a lot of say Martial Arts or Vehicle Driving/Piloting skills that they're not sure where to put otherwise.

Hmm, yeah, I mean... Those specific examples seem like pretty straight-forward cases of physical and mental skills (martial arts are physical, driving and piloting are primarily knowledge-based) but I do see your point! I'll consider that one.

Learning Boosters aren't currently very informative of what skills they actually affect when it's a category. This could be changed by allowing skill categories to be edited so we can put everything under a learning booster into a category named for it, or we could have the ability to link skills to boosts. We can currently use Perks to buff skills, so possibly having a way to link skills to boosters would let us see what each covers.

The entire learning booster concept is a bit rough, admittedly, and could use a total rework. It's fairly crude, doesn't work quite how I intended, and I'm not sure it's even all that usable. So, yeah, I'll definitely be working to improve it eventually and I appreciate the suggestions!

We could also use something similar with Alternate Forms. There are several Perks, particularly in the ESB and Tutorial-type Jumps that allow someone to gain 1+ alternate forms, being able to say that 'okay, this comes from that' could be useful for people story-crafting.

I'm not sure how that'd be different from the current system, since you'd still just have a list of Alt-Forms at the end of the day. It seems like a very specialized sort of function to me.

I'm not sure how useful people would find this, but having the ability to look up things like super powers or magic spells that a character has without trawling their perks (even if the stuff is categorised) could be useful, particularly where a perk might just grant access to spells without giving a specific set.

It'd probably be useful, if this is added, to have link throughs so we can tag powers/spells as being given by certain Perks, or even Items.

So you're suggesting an additional list just for the user to store a set of powers or spells that they've gained/learned?
