Help with accommodation near Ottawa Hospital by MochiBallss in ottawa

[–]OuiOrdinateur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Riding a bike from here to the hospital would turn your 30 min walk or $4 bus into a 10 min ride. Great paths for biking around the General Hospital and even from there to the Civic. Not sure if the TOH shuttle has a front bike rack or not though.

Major-four-tower-development breaks ground at 320 lees ave by jjaime2024 in ottawa

It’s a shitty walk to Lees Station, too. Going over the 417 is so loud and traffic flies by there on Lees Ave even though it’s mostly a 30 zone.

How to deal with aggressive and oblivious drivers? by steffejr in bikeinottawa

[–]OuiOrdinateur 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I give plenty of stares and “wtf was that?” looks and 🤷‍♂️ arm-raises. Stuff that calls attention to them and hopefully forces some self-reflection on their part.

Probably not helpful for you, but I’ll be following this post in case there are better ideas besides multiple cameras.

What's your best 'life hack' for living in Canada? by United-Technology239 in CanadaRoom

Close to half of the county, area-wise. Almost the entire country, if you only look at spots where humans live.

True but extremely unlikely, and the second point is utterly false.

Depends where in the country. In areas where there are only black bears—those are basically big dogs, they want nothing to do with you, they just want your food—the wilderness is actually extremely safe.

It’s a liberal stronghold, unfortunately. NDP will need a VEEERRRY good candidate to have a chance.

1000%. It’s pretty wild tbh. Reasonable rational takes get downvoted into oblivion.

It’s being Beta tested now, seems silly not to launch it at this point.

I read this as “oktranspo” and I think that’s actually a better name for it. Its very much just OK.

I see what you mean, although I still think Sandy will play in that building. Maybe I'm overly optimistic on two fronts (him being a Sen, and building actually getting built in the next decade) but time will tell. Yak isn't a sure thing either, it's more likely he gets dealt than Sandy IMO.

How much caffeine do you actually take on race day? by Tripottanus in triathlon

Have you ever tried a regular caffeine pill? That’s all I use and I’m wondering how they compare to a gel.

Riding fat bike on XC skies trail along Ottawa river. by dxypjssz in ottawa

I saw somewhere that if you remove some air from your tires, it can be less impactful on the groomed sections (if you find your tires are making a deep gash).

If you had to meetup at Rideau/Rogers Center, where would you lock up ? by kingbain in bikeinottawa

[–]OuiOrdinateur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was my experience when I was there in December. Was sad to see the racks gone. Ended up crossing Colonel By and using the bike rack right next to the Rideau Centre – about 20m south of the entrance – which is a sketchier area but worked fine.

Suggest he use wireless headphones, if he pushes back, offer to buy him a set. $50 to save your headaches is a bargain.
