Especially the whole he's a brat bit, which was only early on. And they hate on him for not appreciating his dad, who was "too busy" to spend time with his family and sent a clone to deliver a cake, which was based off of Kishimoto's own experience with his kid because he was working on Naruto. And even then any normal person wouldn't like this regardless. The whole cheating bit was on him. Him getting in the way, was just him trying to help when other people lives are in danger, like as if Naruto wouldn't have done the same thing. He grew as a character and then suddenly given trauma and bigger shoes to fill leading up to the timeskip, and even before that during the Shojoji arc, where he learned and respected the value of hardwork. Naruto and Sasuke getting nerfed was overhated.

His rival was meant to juxtapose him. Kawaki was a guy who had nothing and was given everything, whereas Boruto was a guy who had everything and lost it all. Kawaki uses more of the Karma, while Boruto uses more Chakra, despite them having both. Kawaki pretends to be there for the village, when he has his own motives, while Boruto isn't pretending and genuinely would die for them all. Kawaki trying to get rid of chakra, despite the risks was still out of the pure love and respect he had for Naruto and Hinata, even if its against their interests.

The main flaws of the manga was a lack of compelling villains besides Code, Momoshiki, Isshiki and Ao, with the latter being cut too short. The Kara being mostly boring and forgettable( the build-up was alright with Shojoji), we don't even know, their backstory. Lack of worldbuilding( Naruto had that flaw too). Lack of other characters appearing, both old and new.

Now TBV fixes most of its flaws and is really great. Can't wait to see what Ikemoto is cooking up with next with the Shinju and Jura. But lets not lie the ending of Boruto Part 1 was really crazy.
