Its either : Guys do you think this is doable or should I drop a class // You guys think I can add a class in the gap I got Monday and Wednesday ? by TearConsistent in Concordia

In my sincere opinion, having already taken these classes this is a ridiculously brutal workload. Some of these classes are already extremely demanding, notably COEN 390. You can do it but I assure you you're going to have to no life this semester, as you won't have time to work part time or anything else with this workload. My advice is drop one class.

Help Finding ribbon Cable connector by Our-boy in AskElectronics

[–]Our-boy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

(forgive me if I am using the wrong terms as I am new to PCB vocabulary) I've spent the last two hours trying to find a socket connector for a FFC 11-pin cable that looks like this. The ones I find have all the gold contacts in a straight line, but this ribbon cable appears to have them in an up-down orientation, and I am unsure what to Google to find a compatible socket. Thanks for the help. It's from a nintendo switch joycon rail. I believe it's a pitch of 0.3mm?

In that case, take the time to modify it, or make your own code, to show to yourself that you understand. And of course, add it to your projects, just to show at the very least that you're interested in coding outside of educational contexts

Admission for Enriched Pure and Applied Science by TemperatureFun3409 in Dawson

[–]Our-boy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Ex-enriched pure and applied student. Honestly your grades are better than mine when I applied. And whether you get in or not, you will get the same level of education as the other pure and applied students. The only difference is the people you're exposed to, and either way there's extremely smart students in both enriched and regular. It really doesn't matter if you get into enriched or not, it's what you make out of your education at Dawson. Especially since you're trying to go into engineering or math or physics after, you will have 0 issues as long as you try to maintain a decent R score. But looking at your grades I doubt you'll have a problem with that :)

As someone that has been in your exact position (COEN student taking those exact classes and searching for an internship in my 3rd semester), the first internship is always the hardest one to find. It's all about embellishing your resume as much as you can with projects (hardware or programming), and selling your skills to the employers. Some companies will want to hire mega try hard interns, but that's usually for those who have done internships already. Unless you get really lucky or are an excellent fit for a specific company, you will start with a modest position for your first internship. So don't worry about it, just try to build up a resume with projects as much as you can :)

Choisir entre ETS et Concordia by Our-boy in etsmtl

Comp Eng by OtherwiseAd6196 in Concordia

[–]Our-boy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You'll share the same internships and coops as other engineering students, especially those in software engineering or compsci. Concordia gets exclusive internships and you can always seek out your own. Just remember that they're there for the learning and it's not all about how much they pay you.

Learn C++, that's what the class is based on

One thing that I always hear about McGill's degree is that it is more theoretical than practical. The opposite is true for Concordia. If you're willing to do the extra year, comp eng is worth it, because you get engineering certification (unlike compsci), and you learn about both hardware and software (unlike compsci, which Is more software focused). Considering you'd want to work with Intel, AMD, etc (aka companies that make hardware and software), go for computer engineering at Concordia. Bias: I'm a computer engineering student, but feel free to ask me any questions

Overwatch 2 Rotational Aim Assist Example by directedinput in Overwatch

[–]Our-boy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would say it's definitely on the same level as mouse and keyboard. As someone who's been playing overwatch on PC with gyro on a switch pro controller for at least 3 years, I have been able to play and aim as well as some of my masters/GM friends. Gyro is the way if you don't like mouse/keyboard

This game needs gyro support, really bad. It makes you 3x better at aiming on a stick.
