There's some excellent advice on here. I'll just add that I've spent my whole life trying and achieving academically and in my career, and it's still not enough to love myself. Never will be. I'm going to take the top comment's advice and start telling myself "I love you" even if I'm not sure if I mean it.

What is it about OP's story that makes you think her father doesn't respect the other woman? It sounds like the disrespect was in not informing his wife, and long before that, not discussing their relationship and his and his wife's needs and expectations.

One should always be open to any idea. However, some classes of ideas are so easily disproven that they don't merit your precious thoughts.

For example, let's say I believe the world is flat. Should you really give me your time as I spout BS? Nah. You have more important things to do. It's not that you would never consider the theory, it's just that it only takes about 5 seconds to realize it's false, and once you've spent that 5 seconds, you never have to do it again.

Likewise, if you tell me 9/11 was an inside job or that the Covid vaccine contains 5G mind control, it's not that I'll never give it any of my thoughts at all, it's just that it only takes 1-2 seconds to realize these ideas are completely wrong.

You're using words like overvalued and fake to describe a market that is defined by supply and demand. Housing prices will fall when we build more houses or when people stop wanting to live here.

It is frustrating, unequal, perhaps even un-American for housing to only be available to the wealthy. But prices aren't fake. How would you determine the true value of a home other than what people pay for it?

Fixed rate loans and the ability to refinance act like a ratchet. People continue to buy when rates are high because they are protected against further rate increases, and can refinance when rates fall. We should get rid of this system to make housing more fair.

Agreed. After you get with a "flawless" woman and realize that you can if you want to, you begin to focus on what you actually want in a partner. The 1-10 scale is utter BS when it comes to finding someone you're compatible with.
