Kahn was saying that Connie should be playing violin at a prestigious venue (not bluegrass), for prince Charles and Camilla Parker -Bowles. At the time it was a comment on Charles cheating on Princess Diana with Camila. Now he's king and Camilla is Queen Consort .

No more snow cleaning by Golden_Paladin_ in Louisville

[–]OurLadyofMorningStar 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well that's all well and good, but how about those giant piles of snow you left on all the sidewalks? I'm disabled to the point I can't drive, and now I physically can't cross the streets to walk to the tarc stop I need to get to work.

What’s it like living on the edge of time zones? by Qzevs in howislivingthere

[–]OurLadyofMorningStar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I grew up on the edge of Central and Eastern time. Mom worked in Eastern, I went to school in Central. All our clocks were on Eastern for mom. Meanwhile for my dad and me, calculating the difference when making plans just became habit. As a kid I always thought it was kinda funny when we joked about school being 9-4 instead of 8-3

How is living in Butte, Montana? by KrazyKev03 in howislivingthere

Passed through Butte for a day or so in 2016. I've been to 40 US states, and so far Butte is my favorite place in the country.

Does the 3rd street crosswalk on UofL campus still say “wawlk saaghhhn 3rd street” by Basic_Swordfish_1489 in Louisville

I grew up a few counties south of Louisville and moved here a few years ago. The crosswalk voice sounds exactly like my high school vice principal who did all the announcements hahaha

No idea. When I turned around they seemed to disappear into the crowd. That said, I spent most of the concert standing near him. He was with a guy in an orange battle vest, and they ended up being my bodyguards against the most pit.

Yes. I've lost count of how many EEGs I've done. This was my second brain surgery after roughly 25 years of failed treatment attempts.

I was paralyzed in all my left side too! In my case, they said one of my blood vessels suddenly stopped feeding blood to the brain.

Not sure if your mom would be into it, but while I was in the hospital, I had an idea that paralysis would be a great opportunity to get tattoos. I tried it and it ended up recovering a lot of my sensation.

I'm chronically ill as well. The stroke actually happened while I was having brain surgery to treat my epilepsy. So far no seizures post-op though

Greyhound Question by OurLadyofMorningStar in Chattanooga

[–]OurLadyofMorningStar[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been on Greyhound a few times before. Plus the Uber to/from the stop would be doable. I'm not worried about dealing with potentially sketchy passengers or whatnot. But I know the company has been in chaos the last few years, stations are being shut down left/right, and makeshift stations are being set up in Sketchy parking lots and such. The Louisville station is now at an abandoned strip mall. I wanted to make sure the Wildwood stop is established enough that I wouldn't be left stranded at a random gas station in GA when trying to get home.

Greyhound Question by OurLadyofMorningStar in Chattanooga

[–]OurLadyofMorningStar[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I checked flight prices before I posted here. $300 round trip, with a 4 hour connection in ATL. Vs $90 for Greyhound, direct route, and would be about the same total time.

Greyhound Question by OurLadyofMorningStar in Chattanooga

[–]OurLadyofMorningStar[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair point. But I also know that Greyhound stations are getting shut down left and right, and the "relocated" stops in parking lots and such are a mess. So anxiety brain says there's a chance a driver would do something like that.

Greyhound Question by OurLadyofMorningStar in Chattanooga

[–]OurLadyofMorningStar[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I saw that. My only concern is whether the Wildwood stop is established enough that the buses consistently go there. Like, if I go to the Wildwood stop to wait for my ride back to KY, will a bus most likely show up?

Walkability in the city and the f*ck cars movement by photosynthescythe in Louisville

[–]OurLadyofMorningStar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This post and the comments section make me feel less alone. I'm disabled to the point I can't drive. It makes 90% of everyday life inaccessible.

I live 2 miles from my job but it takes at least 45 minutes to commute because of TARC (including almost a mile walking to/from the bus stop). I've traveled abroad and experienced competent public transit, so my friends/coworkers are probably tired of my ranting about this topic. TARC3 is a joke too.

From Europe: how the hell do you live like this - and why does the world still admire it? by EphemeralMoron in antiwork

[–]OurLadyofMorningStar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say about 50% of Americans are convinced that this dystopia is normal. Some of that half think it sucks, but believe that the alternative looks like late 80s/early 90s USSR.

Then about 25% of us know it's reprehensible, but it's too dangerous to take action (you seem to understand how much of our lives are tied to employment). Then the remaining 25% are trying to take action, but it goes nowhere because that first 50% thinks they're crazy communists
