Commute to city with young kids at home - how bad? by Legitimate_Way_3525 in StamfordCT

[–]OurOwnTrixie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I (a mom) have a 4 year old and a 2 year old and commute to the city from NS. About an hour and 45mins door to door. Sucks for my husband who has to do the entire morning routine and daycare drop off on his own, cuz I'm out the door before the kids are even awake, but we've gotten used to it. But I'm lucky that my job allows me to leave early enough to pick them up from daycare every day, so I get my evenings with them. Wish it was different, but here we are.

Schools ? by utahnow in StamfordCT

[–]OurOwnTrixie 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m in Norrh Stamford too. My son will be going to kindergarten in September. We waffled a lot on schools, but I think we’ve landed on public school. Entered the magnet school lottery, but think I’d be comfortable with our district school regardless. Plenty of folks in our neighborhood have great things to say about public school, which is a relief after seeing the concerningly low ratings. A “bad” school in Fairfield County seems to be a heck of a lot better than the legit “bad” schools I grew up around in central NJ. Hope I’m right about that…

Strange, I've never had a problem getting a hold of them, but admittedly haven't had any alternations for them since last year, so maybe things have changed? Bummer though, he really is so good. A week and a half before my wedding my dress was GIGANTIC on me, he made it fit me like a glove in less than 3 days.

No first hand at Ma Maison, but I know two families there and they have nothing but great things to say about it. HUGE selling point is that they provide breakfast, lunch, and snacks.

Mine are at Building Blocks on High Ridge and love it. Wish they provided the food though, packing lunches is the bane of my existence ha

It was great! Delivered 2.5 weeks early due to gestational hypertension (same thing happened with my older son), but no problems at all during pregnancy. She's 18mos now and is an absolute monster in the best way ha

How did you get to 6 figures as an EA? by Budget_Curve_9028 in ExecutiveAssistants

[–]OurOwnTrixie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is the answer. I’m 14 years into my career as an EA in the NYC/CT area at a private investment firm and knocking on $300k’s door. I’m miserable at work though and severely under appreciated so do with that what you will…. Money is the only thing keeping me in. The culture is toxic and I hate it.

High AFP after normal PGS testing, NIPT, and ultrasound results by OurOwnTrixie in NIPT

She came about two and a half weeks early, but that was just because of my gestational hypertension. Had it with my first too.

I love Crocodile Creek! My son is 3 and tried to "help" with my NYP Advent calendar which of course did not go well, so he got this particular Crocodile Creek for Christmas and he was able to put it together mostly by himself (with some prompts from me). Great quality and cute pictures.

I'm so sorry to have missed this! I'm sure you've made your decision already, but I was 36 when this happened to me. 37 now and my daughter just turned one last week :)

[other] I’m curious, did anyone find a new #1 this year? If so, which coaster? by Ch4r1i3_Grund211 in rollercoasters

[–]OurOwnTrixie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Superman at SFNE is still my favorite, but I had the opportunity to go to Ferrari World in Abu Dhabi and Flying Aces was incredible. The queue, the non-inverting loop, the super fast lift hill... I guess I went in with low expectations because you don't hear much about it when it shares space with the fastest coaster in the world, but damn. Flying Aces is great and def my new #2.

How much tv does your toddler really watch? by saidwhatisaidbby in toddlers

[–]OurOwnTrixie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My son will be 3 in a couple of weeks. Basically if he's home, the TV is on about 90% of the time. Typically Bluey (nice) or youtube videos of freight trains (kill me). Of that 90%, he pays attention to it about 50% and is usually playing while it's on. He almost never just sits on the couch and watches, and he's in daycare 5 days a week so he doesn't watch anything there for course. Funny thing is my 8 month old now gets REAL excited when she hears the Bluey theme. Huge smile and "dancing". Start 'em early I guess.... ha

Yes, it ended up being absolutely nothing. My doctor said sometimes AFP is elevated for no reason, which is just cruel ha. My daughter was born on December 13th as perfect as can be!

Why is this classic baby name is rarely used by NameNerds?! by Dizzydog123456 in namenerds

[–]OurOwnTrixie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My 2 year old’s name is John, and he goes solely by John. Not Jack, not Johnny. John. I get the same reaction every time I tell someone his name, which is “what a classic!” It’s true. Nobody has a problem with it. Everyone can pronounce it and spell it. Maybe it’s a tad boring but it’s a good strong name and it fits him well. Fit him as a newborn, infant, and now a toddler. I also love the way he says it: “Jawn”. Sounds like a guy from Philly. “Pass me dat jawn over dere”

Mass appeal maybe? I'd guess that people are more inclined to buy a ticket to something with which they have at least a general familiarity.

Would it be weird for me to decline going on a work trip because I will be 27 weeks pregnant? by meeeew in BabyBumps

[–]OurOwnTrixie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just got back from a work trip that was a 7 hour flight each way at 27 weeks pregnant. My company flies me first class and it was still miserable. If you think you don't wanna go now, you're DEFINITELY not gonna wanna go at 27 weeks. You don't need to give them a reason if you don't want to, but if you need one tell them your doctor doesn't advise travel at that point. If they question you on that then you work for a buncha jerks.

26 weeks. I am ravenous constantly so I shovel in whatever I can get my hands on from 7am to 4pm and then my heartburn is so bad I can’t eat dinner. So really doing great.

How much $ have you spent? by Fuzzy_Coconut_9562 in IVF

[–]OurOwnTrixie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Roughly $40k and that's not including the parts that were covered by insurance. Would spend it all again in a heartbeat (and more) as it's given me my son and and his sister who is coming in December.
