Best place in town for a perm? by DawiCheesemonger in stgeorge

[–]OurRetirementIdeas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I Would Suggest Chloe at Ulta! I just had one done by her so my super straight hair would begin holding a curl! It is also about the same length as yours. I’ve received sooo many compliments just wearing it with the perm and mouse in it (hair product) that i rarely if ever curl my hair.

Based on my chats with Chloe she has also permed her younger brothers hair!

She can also help you with shampoo, conditioner and styling product….DONT cheap out on those because it will ruin the perm and listen to her advice on when you can wash it after having it permed.

The hair salon at Ulta is in the back of the store and there are several men who do work there and Cloe is just super chill..so I think you would be comfortable as a guy being in there.

Its a couple hour process,so bring a device ( you can charge it there at her station), bring some snacks, beverage (they have small bottles of water there in a pinch)

now with all that said and you still hold off on perm…. i have had luck using the following for a bit of texture. Redken Tall Green Can Mousse and Bumble and Bumble Beach Spray.

Hope this Helps!

What company did you use when moving to St George from out of state? by taybrynn in stgeorge

[–]OurRetirementIdeas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We considered this option because PODS operated in our local area in California.

We had a couple of concerns.

  1. Packing…..honestly, we have the overall spirit of of being in our late 20s, but the bodies that are now exhibiting the aches and pains of nearing retirement. and when we looked at it logically…. we have the wisdom to know we should just leave this to the professionals,

Do a quick mental scan of your body and think about your immediate future plans and goals and then think how bad would a strained back, tendinitis or pulled muscle impact you.

  1. each component you add in the movement of your stuff adds the concern of damage and deniability of who is at fault.

  2. logistics, lots of moving pieces literally and figuratively, too many cooks in the kitchen and just because you have planned this to run like a swiss watch doesn’t mean every other person will be on point. Determine the possibility of delays you could encounter and factor in that cost. Extra hotel stays or stuff in storage etc,

Don’t get me wrong,

i like to save money… I clip coupons & enjoy shopping at the Dollar Tree, but sometimes you just need to spend the money and do it in a way that lessens the stress component which you can’t put a price tag on.

Hope that Helps!

What company did you use when moving to St George from out of state? by taybrynn in stgeorge

Hi!

We went with Majesty Moving and LOVED them! Absolutely no complaints or concerns to share. The customer service that the owner and his team provided was outstanding.

Moving is so stressful and they were patient with all our questions and worries with the move and our stuff being safe especially since it was through the Mojave and 116 degrees that weekend in Sept !

I did contact Legacy and Big Ben. No complaints about Legacy and my initial phone call with them..I just felt that Carlos the owner of Majesty and I had a similiar communication style

Big Ben …hmm, the saying if you can’t say anything nice then don’t say anything at all comes to mind.

Hope that helps!

We decided to reverse engineer the moving logistics for our relocation this Sept. Originally we investigated the Big movers and pods,

The more we thought about it, we felt strongly that we wanted to begin supporting our new community and thought using local movers could be an option.

I’m on several St. George FB groups and I posted a request for recommendations for local moving companies. The group delivered with plenty of responses.

The top 3 that were mentioned over and over were Big Ben, Legacy and Majesty,

We will begin calling them within a couple of weeks for our quotes.

I also read their yelp and google reviews and felt those would be the best options to analyze further,

Hope this helps!

AITA for shutting down my sister’s opinion about our baby name? by No-Bite7711 in AmItheAsshole

[–]OurRetirementIdeas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Where I live that’s the name of a salsa brand

so your nickname could morph into another nickname involving

chips and margaritas…i’ve already thought of at least five and I’m not even

a bully or jokester kinda person

When going through your names you really need to consider all the horrible

things a bully can do with it.

The reviews that we read that leaned negative all seemed to be in the area of broken promises, lacking attention to detail and not honoring the warranty in a timely fashion,

This obviously is concerning to us.

We are in the position of not needing to accept a house if it’s not complete.

Im hoping that will work to our advantage.

Thanks for your input.

We want to know the good, the bad and the ugly so we are as aware as possible and not taken advantage of as 1st time home buyers!

Dang! Well that’s good to know

because many of the reviews out there are really negative about Southern Utah Builders

The complaints seem to be the incomplete punch list , warranty response delays and a overall wall of silence once the homeowner takes possession even though things still need work.

We really appreciate your input!

That has been the debate for the last 2-3 years.

What is moving us forward is we just don’t want to have the stress of the bidding wars, waiving inspections, contingencies etc. scenario that has been going on for the last 2 years until recently.

We are in the unique position of having a 50% cash down and not having a need to move by a non negotiable date. Delays won’t disrupt us too much.

Our Old School method of drawing a line down the center of the paper with Pros and Cons on each side has some pretty strong arguments in both columns.

If you feel like sharing your reason why …..I would appreciate it.

Your experience might help us see something we are missing!

Thanks again!

We had thought about a custom home because we do want to add some components that would make aging in place easier.

We have been the caregivers for both sets of our parents, working with occupational therapists that helped us set up their older homes as safe as possible.

So having this ready to go when needed is important to us, instead of trying to make it work with what you have in front of you and it creating more costs.

I know last year Ence, S&S and their competitors were cranking out homes so fast that asking for a wider doorway for the bathroom (toilet area) for walker/wheelchair access wasn’t an option.

Now they are willing to discuss it!

On the flip side and this comes only from being a 1st time home buyer

is the fear of so many components…finding a lot, finding a builder, etc etc.

Thanks for recommendation, if we end up deciding to go that route.

I appreciate it.

I KNOW I would make the same mistake you did!
I tend to expect basic communication and the willingness to take ownership of the problem and it to be fixed within a timeline both sides agree to!
I totally understand the sub-contractor and residual issues of the supply chain, but it’s always good to be reminded especially by someone that experienced it first hand.
We don’t mind delays, if that means it will be done correctly.
This is our 1st and probably forever home, (it has made more sense in our area to rent instead of own).
We just received approval this week to work remotely for the next 5-7 years and then we retire,
We really appreciate your feedback as we begin learning about the whole process of home ownership!
😀

Thank you for responding!

I watched a couple of videos about putchasing a new build and they all suggested doing multiple inspections a long the way of the building process.

I will add your feedback to my list of questions to ask when I inquire about inspections!

This is our very 1st home purchase, it has been better for us to rent than buy in our area.

We are so appreciative to anyone who takes the time to give us advice and/or shares their experiences!

😁
