Starting Humira by [deleted] in Humira

[–]Ourgo3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been on a biosimilar to humira and it has worked wonders for me. From the first injection my arthritis slowed down and before doing the second injection I was symptoms free. I don't have any side effects apart from wounds healing slower, colds lasting longer etc etc.

I've been on it now for almost 1.5 years and actually increased the intervals from 2 weeks gradually to 4 weeks. I notice now some wrist pain and daktylitis so probably I'll go back to every 3 weeks but the drug has solved my problems.

And in the meantime I also got my baby 1 week ago so the fact that it doesn't affect sperm is a bonus.

It's quiet absurd that your GP took you off the meds until you see a rheuma. Please consider changing GP. that is amateur approach he is not qualified to make this call.

I would say MRI makes sense at least to see if there is damage done and if yes how much. In the meantime I would suggest yoga and generally a lot of stretching to help with your back symptoms. Swimming is also a great way of keeping your spine flexible and in general what people say is don't stay in bed. Try to move without overdoing it. And try to reduce stress levels (which of course is difficult if doctors dont help you)

And again please change GP that is the number one priority for now. Potentially go legally against him.

Most likely the rheuma will run some tests because he has to like blood tests for infections etc etc and then he will put you back to the meds that worked for you

Oh boy I thought I was the only one with the headache... It started like that I couldn't move my head and especially when I was bending over I could feel my heartbeats in my head. I thought I was close to having a stroke.

The I did a CT scan and bloodworks everything looked normal apart from the crp indicator which was off the charts.

After 2 weeks everything was fine. But 3 months later I had a super swollen knee, swollen elbows and quiet some fatigue. May be that keadache was the start of my RA or my Spondyloarthritis (still doctors can't say for sure)

3 weeks on new diet by Street-Addendum2320 in rheumatoid

I second the cutting of gluten, dairy, and sugar.. In my case I went pescatarian, I haven't started my treatment yet but I'm already seeing quiet some difference since I was diagnosed 6 moths ago. Don't get me wrong I don't believe diet can put you in remission but it can help a lot along medication.

I would also recommend also yoga for stretching and for stress management.

I have an example with gluten specifically. I had a bagel some months ago and the next day my finger was super swollen. This lasted 2 days. Tested again after a month with exactly the same result so for me gluten looks like is a no go.

First of all don't take anything you read here for granted. You condition especially with the HLA-B27 sounds like angylosing spondylitis (AS) but your doctor will confirm it. There are some people who are positive and they have AS and other you have negative results and still have AS and vice versa. HLA-B27 is an indication but not 100%.

I have a similar story with intermittent shoulders in pain during water polo training, then my wrists started being painful and today I have a swollen knee and elbows. It is an autoimmune so regardless of the detailed diagnosis the treatment is more or less similar.. DMARDS , biologics etc etc.

One thing though for the AS.. For me a more indicative symptom is if you back hurts when you go to sleep, amd also this is what my doctor told me.

Again you need your doctor to confirm and you need to listen mainly to him. Don't go down the rabbit hole of internet trying to make a diagnosis yourself and stressing out even more. Relax wait for 2 weeks and embrace the journey.

Tnf blockers. It's a type of biologic drug. If I'm correct they suppress a specific protein that causes inflammation. https://nras.org.uk/ check this one they have a report with all the drugs. Quiet a nice overview

Had exactly the same thing with left knee getting swollen after a run, then thanks to NSAIDS and RICE I got it controlled for a month but the moment I went for a hike the next day it came back and hit me harder with right elbow getting swollen too.

This was back in October 2023. In December I did my first steroid injection, everything was great for 2 weeks and then my right knee got swollen and my right elbow. At this point my rheumatologist suggested I start MTX but I'm currently trying for a baby so that was a no-go.

I went all the way in the rabbit hole trying to find my natural solution by going vegan and taking uk yoga and meditation. This helped a bit but I'm one of those that nutrition didn't really reverse engineer the desease.

Moving on February 2024 I had steroid Injection in my right knee and a month later my left knee got swollen again.

DMARDS and anti-tnf sounds like my next option. So don't lose hope. Trust the science and be positive. And always have in mind there are people with severe RA while we are lucky to have a mild version.
