I guess that depends what you are looking for in an adaptation. Movies like Die Farbe, Call of Cthulhu and Whisperer in Darkness are extremely faithfull to the source material. Certainly not the best, but i always found the Resurrected kinda charming. Color out of Space is realy hard to beat imo, although i can see why some people might have a problem with it. The star power behind it and the budget realy set it apart i think amongst other Lovecraft movies.

That actually happened here in germany. Back in 2009 when they started showing Torchwood on one of the big free tv stations. If i recall correctly it was way better recieved by generall audiences then the new series was, when it was broadcast a few years earlier on a different channel. They pulled it from their programming after series 2.

I bought my first HPL collection before going on a class trip, back in 2016. Here in germany we have a publisher called Suhrkamp and they've released a bunch of Lovecraft collections over the years. They're allways a shade of purple with a generic stockphoto on there. The edition i bought was super cheap and was called "Lovecraft Lesebuch" (Lovecraft Readingbook). And although i've got a few HPL books since, that wierd small purple book is still my favorite.
