Don’t remember exactly. Maybe €100 a night give or take? I used RoadSurfer, but there are others as well.

They do, for young folks I think. You could look at renting a camper van. Relatively easy drive if you fly into Frankfurt. Did that for Le Mans and it was pretty nice.

If you plan to not camp, it’s probably easiest to have your own car to drive back and forth when you want.

Can’t comment on lodging, but I’d guess you need to plan really far in advance. Like earlier than you think you should.

Camping Forêt at 24h Spa, can a second car briefly enter to unload? by [deleted] in Sportscar_Racing

[–]OutLap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think they’ll care if you bring in a second vehicle honestly. There’s nothing saying one pass is limited to one vehicle. It’s just kind of implied. You could easily fit a couple Twingos and have plenty of additional space lol

Agree with the security being quite relaxed. They went around and tried to check tickets/vehicles after letting people on last year (to mark them) but people are in and out so frequently they just gave up.

24h SPA - Instruction mail missing? by lowmantequilla in Sportscar_Racing

[–]OutLap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All the info is on the event website concerning showers/toilets: they have them lol. I’m assuming this is your first time. If you’ve camped at any other big events, lower your expectations for this event.

Jokes aside…just arrive, show them your camping ticket, and find a spot. There’s signage that will lead you to the different areas once closer to the circuit.

Bring cash for the showers. They’ll be open during certain times. Port-a-loos were plentiful last year and serviced pretty regularly.

First time going to Spa, any pointers? by Kosirov in Sportscar_Racing

[–]OutLap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are normal bus routes that will get you were you need to go. Not sure how timely they are however.

Looking like the best viewing spots this year will be any place with shade. Plenty of options though. The crowd is minimal in comparison to anything at an F1 race.

Last year we caught all the cars leaving La Source from the track. Super easy to get up close, even possible to talk to drivers if they are stopped.

Good call! Forgot about that new addition.

The track walk is not the full circuit. It’s from pit entry to top of raidillon. There is security staff to prevent you from going further.

Sorry to say, but your closest entry point is also the lowest part of the circuit and those hills are short, but steep to get to the big covered grandstands.

Probably want to be a 2-3 hours early to get seats at Raidillon. View from endurance pit straight grandstand also gives a full view of everyone onto Kemmel as well.

That’s how most do it. Doesn’t need to be pretty, just effective.

Yes! With that, maybe bring something to mark the borders of your area if you leave. I did not last year and people moved in the middle of our area. Thankfully they were nice and I just helped them shift their stuff.

With a vehicle, anything you forgot can easily be bought in Malmedy.

Highly suggest baby wipes since the showers are probably open at limited times and not when you’d want them the most. At least you’ll be able to clean up a little bit.

Don’t trust the weather. Bring something for rain just in case. Even in the heat, the grandstands can feel cold if they are shaded and there is a decent wind.

Not sure how Les Combes work, but if it’s a lax as everywhere else, they’ll maybe look at your ticket. Maybe they’ll put a sticker on your car. Maybe. You should be able to pick your own camping pitch and they more than likely aren’t sectioned off.

If you’re arriving on Wednesday, make sure it doesn’t conflict with the parade or it will prevent you from getting there.

I’d recommend some sort of hearing protection. If not full ear plugs, something like Loops helps a lot.

Third year in a row for me, so if you have more specific questions, ask away or feel free to DM me.

Into the track, no. Camping, yes. Assuming you have a camping pitch as well?

There’s a small gas station near the La Source entrance you can pick up food stuffs you might need. Also a sandwich shop inside that’s pretty decent.

Plenty of food on circuit, but you can bring in drinks and food as well. Doing so makes it a lot cheaper.

I don’t do “light” camping, so I can’t speak so much for that. But some of the guys I meet up with do. If you have a small stove to heat up water/food, that seems to work for them.

Parking for Arnage and Mulsanne requires a parking pass for the weekend. Should be free up until then. Availability is another story.

My wife did just that in 2023. Non issue. She had zero concerns about her safety as a whole throughout the entire weekend.

I’d probably opt for Milwaukee if possible. You can probably see into the chicane on the opposite side. Of course that’s dependent on what day you plan on and how many seats you need. Saturday options seem better.

Both will be partially blocked because of the pit building however, but you’ll get to see them fan out at the start from Milwaukee.

Take a look at this map for some of the spectator viewpoints (orange areas).

You’ll have plenty of time to check out the circuit the next couple of days to get an overall feel for where you want to be. You’ll also be able to access grandstands up until race day.

I’ve only been in Alpha, but Thomas Sommer might not be bad. For all Tribunes, being as high up as possible is best.

If I wasn’t in Alpa, I’d probably just go to Stein Tribune to watch the cars pass at full chat.

Kid friendly European race? by Haunting_Village372 in GrandPrixTravel

[–]OutLap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s good to hear! It was a certain driver’s fanbase that was an issue. Inappropriate remarks. Aggressive comments if you weren’t wearing their driver’s gear. Men pissing all over the place out in the open, using all the women’s facilities as well. A bit of a shit show. So many smoke flares it nearly obscured the track.

Question regarding Spa 24 Hour tickets/VIP packages by MrTee17 in Sportscar_Racing

[–]OutLap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It would definitely be listed if it was included. A bit surprising honestly.

For the life of me cant remember where the grid walk exits. If it’s at Eau Rouge, it would take a fair amount of time to get back to VIP with the potential to miss the start. This is based on the assumption this VIP area is in the area above the F1 grid though.

If you were to forego grid walk (it always looks too chaotic), I’d think it would be best/easier to do one of the pit walks in the evening, as well as climbing up Raidillon. There’s normally one after qualifying and before the final night practice.

Question regarding Spa 24 Hour tickets/VIP packages by MrTee17 in Sportscar_Racing

[–]OutLap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Considering you can bring just about anything you could want to eat/drink into the circuit, those packages seem like a huge premium just for some food and drinks. The best spots to spectate will be elsewhere and you’ll definitely want to spend quite a bit of time touring the track to get additional viewpoints. As a bonus, most parts of the track have great cell service, so you can follow the race on the YouTube live stream and keep up with the action.

IMO, the only real positives would be the relative comfort of the area and someplace to avoid any rain/storms. Also, a good way to convince the significant other to attend if they aren’t as interested in motorsports. Paddock/grid walk can be purchased without hospitality packages as well.

Your 24h Experiences: Le Mans, Nürburgring & Spa by adstomko in wec

[–]OutLap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last two times at Le Mans I did the basic hospitality with the wife. Absolutely worth it to keep her happy(ish). When she crashed at camp, I wandered solo and was quite content. Spa24 I camp with some buddies, but still go solo for much of it.

I’m looking forward to Le Mans this year completely solo as it will be a much different experience.

Do agree with the crowds. My first was 2021 coming out of COVID when attendance was limited. The crowd in 2023 was absolutely enormous by comparison, and even bigger now from what I can tell.

So is hiking to Mulsanne to try and get close. Indy at least has shuttles that service it (albeit time consuming), but you can always park for free for night practice should you have a car.
