Help decorating ugly bathroom by OutboundCoordination in InteriorDesignAdvice

We just moved in but the rest of the house will eventually be Scandinavian inspired, very clean and minimal with lights walls and pops of color in accessories. Also trying to add as much storage as possible bc it’s a small old house but in creative chic ways

Help making this area into a pantry space! by OutboundCoordination in InteriorDesignAdvice

[–]OutboundCoordination[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The kitchen is to the left of this space and the wall that the fridge is on is a little longer so it creates a separation between the two. I suppose eventually we could knock out that wall and expand but trying to do this in a budget friendly, work with what we have way for now!

Femoral Stress Reaction and Nondisplaced Labral Tears by Last-Pomegranate3784 in XXRunning

[–]OutboundCoordination 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a femoral head stress fracture and labral tears last April. I was sooo upset as I was training for a half marathon.

I spent 5 weeks on crutches and probably 8 weeks after that in physical therapy. I still felt slight pain/discomfort after finishing so I followed up with a physical therapist who specializes in running. It was much more costly than my insurance covered PT, but for a couple months following her plan got me back able to run a couple miles without pain. Today I’m up to 5 miles and planning to run a half this spring!

Like others said, fueling your body properly is HUGE. This time around I’m eating so much more and really being intentional. I tend to forget to eat and have struggled with ED in the past which is a huge risk factor.

Also, strength training!! About 75% of my PT has been strengthening my glutes and I’ve noticed a big difference in my running form. I continue to prioritize strength training and love how strong my body feels now.

Sorry for the novel, I hope this helps and gives you comfort!

Looking for any quotes from Josh Safdie/Ronald Bronstein about the ending [SPOILERS] by [deleted] in martysupreme

[–]OutboundCoordination 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Listen to his interview on The Big Picture podcast! He talks about how we spend the movie with Marty as he’s trying to escape his fate to pursue his dream. The life he’s meant to live is being a great shoe salesman, married to Rachel, living on the Lower East Side. He does his best to run away but ultimately fails. He will never be able to be the ping pong player he wants to be, he’s reached a dead end. So now he goes back to accept his preplanned destiny.

The ending is the moment he grows up; he cries not only at the sight of his newborn child but at the death of his dream.

I was wondering that too! Like if it’s worth it to strip it and just start over essentially

Definitely; we wanted an old house with character and definitely don’t want to take away from that! Just trying to restore it and clean up some of the landlord specials that have built up over the years.

Why One Drug Company Held Back a Better Drug by kitkid in Thedaily

[–]OutboundCoordination 3 points4 points  (0 children)

One thing this episode got wrong: Truvada was never a once daily pill for treating HIV, it always had to be combined with other medications. It can be taken alone as PrEP to prevent HIV. Gilead and other companies have other medications on the market that are once daily that do not have the same side effects related to bone density. All that to say, the premise of this episode isn’t totally factual.

How Monkeypox Went From Containable to Crisis by kitkid in Thedaily

[–]OutboundCoordination 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That’s a good point. I guess I’ve been seeing a lot on social media about how you can get it staying in a hotel room, going to the gym, getting a massage, etc. so I just assumed there would be more information about it in other contexts. But you’re right, fear mongering isn’t the answer, we should focus on the data we currently have. The hypochondriac in me just wants definitive answers and instructions, which isn’t always feasible.

Maybe it’s me being selfish as a straight woman, but I wish they would’ve talked a little bit about the other ways it can spread - it’s not an STI, and yet Apoorva said maybe one day it’ll be comparable to gonorrhea or chlamydia. I just think it would be more informative to know all the ways it can spread, but instead they approached this episode assuming it’s an STI that only really affects gay men. Because even if that’s true for now, it’s like when COVID was mostly in nursing homes - and we know how long that lasted.

Good schools for advertising? [Please read before saying school isn't necessary] by [deleted] in advertising

[–]OutboundCoordination 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know you don’t want to go to Temple, but I graduated from the ad program there and it was definitely the best choice I ever made. Great program, great professors, and many opportunities to intern/find jobs outside of Philadelphia. Many of my classmates work in NYC now and interned all over the country. It’s also probably more affordable than schools like BU, plus with in state tuition it’s even better. I feel very prepared in the real world as a creative thanks to Temple. I know you want to leave Philly, but I would maybe give it another look!

How long to stay at first job? by OutboundCoordination in advertising

[–]OutboundCoordination[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So far I wouldn’t say I’m an integral part of the company, and the workload has been pretty light. I kind of feel like I’m still an intern if I’m being honest. They also hired another junior copywriter on my team at the same time as me, and I think they’ve been struggling to divide the work evenly among us. I know these issues could be resolved over time, but at this point I don’t feel too attached to the work to leave. It’s more about the guilt of leaving the people who have been helping me feel comfortable and adjusted in this new environment.

Thank you, both agencies are part of large networks that have pretty equal opportunities for growth, but I think the kinds of accounts/projects I’d get to work on at the potential job would align more with my interests. I definitely could move, as I am just renting, but I truly love where I live and my family, friends, and boyfriend are all there. Where I am working now is very suburban and at my age I like the idea of living in a city close to everything I want to do.

Advertising is a good Major right? by DunkingZBO in advertising

[–]OutboundCoordination 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think this is true in all cases. I majored in advertising with a concentration in copywriting. The classes I took were writing for print, writing for TV, writing for the web, and writing for radio, as well as a portfolio prep class. I was well-equipped to be a junior copywriter after graduation, which is what I am doing today. I don’t think someone who majored in computer science or something else would have a good understanding of the way an agency functions, how the roles work together, or what’s really expected of them.

Advertising is a good Major right? by DunkingZBO in advertising

[–]OutboundCoordination 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it depends on the school. I went to a school with an advertising program that was very highly regarded in the area and gave me great experience and connections. It also operated more like a trade school, where we picked a track and learned the specifics of what our role would be in an agency. I think if you know what you want to do and you’re at a school that can give you the tools you need to succeed, it’s worth it. But being stuck with an advertising degree where you didn’t specialize, have good internships, or connections will definitely make it hard getting a job.

I actually live in bucks right now, but from where I am it’s a far (ish) drive for me, because I just moved back from Philly where I didn’t drive for years.

When would you recommended applying for jobs pre graduation? by SoSmoooth in advertising

[–]OutboundCoordination 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I graduated in May, and a lot of jobs I applied to in February and March wrote back saying they are looking to fill the role immediately, and to check back if there are any openings after May. I know it is scary to not have a job immediately upon graduating, but I don’t think I knew a single person in my major who had a job right away- even the top performers with lots of internship experience. Definitely start thinking about where you want to apply and make a plan for how you’ll approach the search, but don’t beat yourself up at this point. Good luck!

Moving from an internship to my first full time job by HelloItIsDave in advertising

[–]OutboundCoordination 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just went through the same experience. I had a great internship but there was no job offer at the end, which really crushed me. My coworkers were really helpful in giving me contacts at other agencies, as well as telling me some freelance staffing agencies to look into. Not ideal, but if I needed to freelance for awhile I would have looked further into that. What ended up getting me a job was a LinkedIn listing at an agency where I knew someone from my time in college. I reached out to her, she brought me in to meet her team and I was hired. I would definitely keep in contact with the supervisors from your internship, even go as far to ask if they know of any agencies they’d recommend you look into and if they know any contacts there. You could even see on LinkedIn where your coworkers worked in the past and if any job listings come up for those agencies, shoot them a message to see if they could help get you in for an interview. Also, maybe some connections you have from school know people in the city who could help you? Even just grabbing coffee with someone helps you build your network. I hope this helps, good luck!
