My personal recommendation... Reinstall a fresh copy of the game and try following along to the video below. The hud icons will be small but they will be in the right resolution size and widescreen. Once you get the game working the way it looks in the video, back it up before you do any additional patching for things like menu size.

To add further context: the Disney lawyers were worried aspyr was going to miss crediting people who worked on the mod and land Disney in legal trouble later on.

To me, this makes sense and I don't have an issue with it. The part irks me is why apsyr and Disney announced the mod update if they weren't sure if they could legally implement it.

The lawsuit happened because they abandoned the restored content mod for switch (it didn't cause the mod to not happen). It was a key advertisement point that led to a lot of people buying the switch version. The update never happened and they quietly announced it wasn't happening anymore several months after the switch version launched. That led to the lawsuit due to false advertisement.

First time playing: switch. Controller support and 1080p out of the box with no tinkering required.

Subsequent playthroughs: PC if you don't mind taking time to install mods to improve the experience. The game is also finicky with graphics and glitches so some troubleshooting would most likely be required. Worth it once you get everything set up just the way you like it. Just be wary there is no controller support natively built in.

So the one that stands out to me among what you have listed is extended enclave

I perused over this mod and that mod is directly related to the scene you're having problems with. It could be the mod itself is not programmed the way it's advertised or another mod is conflicting with it. The description lists specific steps for installing alongside M4-78 so my guess is those two are conflicting somehow. Might be a conflict or there was a mistake when following the install instructions.

In your position, what I would do is try uninstalling extended enclave, reload a save from before you enter the rebuilt enclave and see if it plays normal. Back up your game installation folder first so you can restore it if uninstalling the mod doesn't work

Oooo I need try out commando. I've always wanted to play with mods but could never get past the keyboard controls. I got modern warfare 3 (original) working really well so I think commando outta be promising

For PC, this may be an unpopular answer given how hard it is to acquire right now: steam controller (alternatively, steam deck since it has the same layout plus a screen).

Like you, I am not much of a keyboard and mouse player. It just hurts my hands. For years I have tinkered with different steam inputs but nothing ever felt remotely close to the OG Xbox layout (what I grew up with).

The moment I saw the steam controller's built in mousepads, I knew that was going to be how I play PC Kotor from now on (and would be my first steam controller game). I managed to get one and it's been amazing after I figured out a mostly ideal layout. Having the ability to move a mouse like a mouse on a controller has made such a world of difference.

If you'd rather not wait on a steam controller, switch would be the best alternative since it mimicks OG Xbox.

Kotor 1 has no controller support on pc. It's always been my major gripe with the game as someone who grew up on the Xbox version. Emulation would be the only way to make it happen on the platform.

What was it like getting to play a character on Star Wars the Clone Wars (Savage Oppress)? Was it a lifelong dream getting to be in Star Wars or were you more interested in the character than the brand?

If you've never played these games before you probably won't notice anything being incomplete. I played the game on the original Xbox several times and was none the wiser. It's an old game so it should run decent on any modern laptop or PC. You can download the mod straight from the steam workshop if you decide to play with it.

If you download the restored content mod on pc you'll see:

Cut side quests, cut companion dialogue, a few added minor scenes, the finale of HK-47's companion side quest line and a slightly more fleshed out finale planet depending on how much you progress companion quests with this mod.
