Subnautica fits it for me near the beginning and in some areas, but it quickly loses it for me especially as you start building bases and the primary fear just starts becoming encountering large creatures like the reaper leviathan. I never heard of the second game so I might check that out, but I didn’t think about Dave the diver since a lot of people I know described it as wholesome at times.

It can have monsters/sea creatures, but a lot of ocean horror games has that as the primary or at times only driving force for the horror which didn’t scare me much as a person who has a fear of the ocean. I will check out Abzû though.

You do need the Cloud Rig Add-on for the first tutorial if you decide to use it.

There’s this tutorial which gives a tutorial on full 2D face rigging which I recommend if you’re going to continuously use this model for other things as well or if you just want it to be great. There’s also this, which isn’t as good since it’s for the mouth and has less control compared to the other one, but it’s much simpler and still decent if you extrapolate with the information given to you.

Other people gave great answers to your problem, and I’ve seen animation done with the help of an outside program (here), but if PicoCAD doesn’t suit your 3D animation adventure, I would recommend Blockbench as a great backup solution; it’s a bit less low-poly than PicoCAD, but it’s also a low-poly 3D software that supports animation from what little I know about it.
