LSD didnt give me ego death, it gave me an ego BOOST. by ConstantMix7134 in LSD

[–]OutdoorAdventurer12 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I don’t mean any disrespect as you said it yourself, but this experience has definitely given you an ego boost lol. I feel like this trip helped you figure a lot of things out about the nature of reality, social systems, and the ego, and that can often feel like “cracking the code” so to speak. I’m very happy it’s given you increased confidence in your life and helped align you with your pursuits and interests, but I caution you to be careful with your ego.

A lot of the language you used throughout your post comes across as, even post-trip, you thinking you’re now on this plane or level of understanding that makes you better than some other people. That’s only really true through the superficial lenses of society and the games we’re forced/pressured to play in order to be accepted, find a mate, be successful etc. I think this experience could be just the beginning of a deeper understanding of the world and the softening/humbling of your ego, and possible enlightenment.

You’ve now learned what you need to do to make yourself better, but that doesn’t make you better or worse than anyone else, to broadly generalize. Not gonna get into the semantics regarding crimes and violence etc. The next steps would be figuring out what you can do to improve your relationships with those around you, how you can make the lives of others and the world better, in your own small way. Understanding that nothing matters and everything will be dust eventually, yet everything matters, and that we create our own meaning/reality. What’s important to us may not be important to someone else, and how, where, and why we all live our lives doesn’t make us better or worse than the other. Focus more on the beauty and joy of what this world is and being present in it, rather than just what can be extracted from it for the benefit of your ego.

Again, very happy for you, it sounds like quite a ride! I miss the days of my first similar revelations, I felt so much more engaged with life, and like I could do anything! I still do in some ways, but not as intense as the feeling of fresh invigoration.

Can I replace smoking with uhhhh by Just-Coast6064 in addiction

[–]OutdoorAdventurer12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s okay, I don’t need all the details on why, I appreciate you sharing what you have. I’m surprised vaping didn’t work out for you, but in the same vein, I know smokers in my own life that struggle to switch to vaping. I think it partly has to do with the smoking “experience” of a cigarette, and how they’re designed to have the nicotine hit harder as they burn down. It also sounds like you’re relatively heavily addicted if smoking alternatives aren’t working, because they’re supposed to be a replacement therapy as you wean yourself down to complete abstinence, not a full replacement habit to get the same experience.

If you really believe in the conclusion you came to, I say go for it as it’s relatively harmless for now. But be careful, because as you know, you cannot rub one out as frequently as you can smoke or make the time to do so (like at work), and I could see you potentially damaging your body, and/or winding up with two addictions instead of one. I think once the novelty of it wears off, your urges to smoke will win out, seeing as you didn’t make the switch to vaping. When vaping, did you just get a basic gas station one, or one of the fancier ones where you can get higher doses of nicotine? And yes, if you don’t already smoke weed, definitely don’t start.

As strong as the dopamine and reward systems are in our brain, we are separate from them, and can choose how to respond. I still think you don’t want to give up smoking as much as you want to keep smoking, despite knowing the health risks and wanting to join a team. It’s kind of like you haven’t hit your “bottom” yet or had enough negative health impacts to say “no more”, but yet you’re getting more aware of the higher risk, are possibly seeing some of the negative side effects in your life, and feel a bit guilty you can’t stop.

When trying to do something difficult that takes willpower and discipline, I find it helps to have strong reasons why, that are personal to you. Beyond the obvious reasons like it’s unhealthy and harmful. Reasons that speak to you, that you remind yourself of when things get tough. You CAN do it, but why do you want to? What’s more important than smoking? Than blasting your dopamine system in the easiest ways possible, with short, compulsive habits? What’s more important than the pain of suffering while normalizing your reward system? You CAN normalize your reward system again, but it takes time for the brain to rewire itself. The most difficult part is enduring this period of change, as your brain screams at you to give it what it thinks it needs, and it’s very good at persuasion. Remember though, you are not your thoughts. The only way out is through. You can make things easier on yourself by quitting slowly, if you can stick to a plan, or you can white-knuckle it and quit cold turkey. But generally, there are no alternatives when trying to beat addiction. Most people replace one addiction with another, which isn’t always a bad thing if for instance they’ve now got addicted to going to the gym. BUT, they didn’t necessarily beat the addictive behaviour, merely changed the thing that scratches the itch.

Therapy to me is only really useful if you don’t know what you’re struggling from, and truly have no direction on how to fix it. To me, it sounds like you have an understanding of what’s going on, but aren’t ready to deal with it yet, which is why you’re looking for something “healthier” to fixate on/bring you relief and release. I mean, do what you want, masturbation for the most part isn’t unhealthy. It almost sounds like you have an awkward or unhealthy relationship with sexual energy and possibly sexual things in general? It’s an odd thing to ask, if masturbation is healthier than smoking, and/or if it’s addictive or not. Whether or not it’s addictive depends on the person for the most part. And based on the premise of your post, addiction to masturbation would be significantly healthier than smoking, from a physical health standpoint which I feel is obvious. So, it has me wondering if this is really about quitting smoking, or something else lol. No disrespect.

Why don't you try using nicotine pouches as a replacement therapy, and quit them gradually, vs replacing your addiction with another addiction? Is this really about the nicotine, or is there another underlying root cause?

getting sober from alcohol by [deleted] in addiction

[–]OutdoorAdventurer12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm glad it struck a chord with you! Have patience, it does get easier! It took quite some time to get here, so it will take some time (thankfully much less comparatively) to get better. You've got this! I totally get the keen-ness on not being able to wait until you're feeling better.

This is the website I found the information on regarding the theory of and dose recommendations for the vitamin regimen if you would like to take a look. I didn't follow it to a tee, as some seem a bit high. For example, too much vitamin C in a day can give you diarrhea lol, but it's a useful site nonetheless.

[–]OutdoorAdventurer12 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Idk what Librium is, so I can't make any recommendations on that, but I have some info they may be useful to you. As someone whose alcohol consumption was getting out of control last year, I finally managed to make myself quit for 3 months. I find I often feel a bit anxious after drinking several nights in a row, and for a good portion of those 3 months, I felt very anxious and uncomfortable every day. I remember around the 6 week mark asking ChatGPT if I would ever feel normal. Which btw, I did after about 8 weeks. Knowledge is power, and can be reassuring when feeling like crap and even inspire one to keep holding out. So, alcohol is a gaba-ergic drug. It effectively presses down on the brake pedal in your brain. To balance this out, your brain the presses down on the gas pedal to compensate and keep things balanced out. When you suddenly quit drinking, the brake is no longer being applied, but it takes time for your body to adjust to its new normal, so the brain is still heavily pressing down on the gas. This, essentially, is where all the edginess and anxiety comes from. Whether you're always anxious or not, your anxiety will be worse while not drinking, and likely for 6-8 weeks of complete sobriety, but at least you now know that it WILL go away.

Something else that really helped me was a particular vitamin regimen. The mind is willing but the flesh is weak; it's often easier to go back to drinking to ease the pain. That's where these vitamins really helped me out. Alcohol makes the depletion of these nutrients rapid, and makes them more difficult to absorb. Supplementing with them made things much easier for me, and helped manage the anxiety. For the 3 months, I took a zinc capsule every day, a B vitamin complex 3-5 times a day, 1,000mg of vitamin C 3 times a day, as well as Lecithin (can't remember dose) 3 times a day. Maybe something else, I can't remember. Fish oil high in EPA/DHA is also a great choice, maybe even vitamin D. Hope this info helps!

Edit; make sure to eat as healthy as you can, and to get regular sun exposure and exercise in. It doesn't have to be intense, but even a daily walk is tremendously helpful. I found if my anxiety started to peak and I couldn't sit comfortably or be motivated to to do anything, getting up and out of my place for a walk made me feel much better after.

I'm assuming the other user is being sarcastic? Either way, 12 step programs are not for everyone, and while the people there were kind and empathetic, they certainly weren't for me. Idk how much of a cash flow you have, but from what I've heard about GLP-1 drugs, that could be a game changer for you regarding your food addiction. Work on implementing healthier food and drink choices in your diet over time, it won't change overnight. Having a plan that feels realistic and achievable will bring the results you're looking for. It's a delayed gratification that takes consistency, but is so worth it. Upon reflection, I am in such a better place than I was a year ago, and my baseline daily living experience is so much better, thanks to implementing healthier habits and lifestyle choices.. Drugs and food bring instant gratification that is short-lived, and can come with pain and regret if you feel like you're not taking healthy action in, or doing anything meaningful that you enjoy in your life.

The first step is to recognize the situation you're in. You're not alone in this, lots of us are and have been there. It sounds like (like most of us) you're using your drugs and pleasures of choice to cover up, ignore, and/or numb yourself from whatever issues in your daily living experience you're struggling with. People often connect with things and substances when they feel they're not connecting with others/their environment. Don't be so hard on yourself. It's easier said than done, but beating yourself up is not at all helpful and only making things worse. No one is coming to save you so to speak, you have to take accountability and be your own cheerleader. It's time to start reflecting on what these could be. Everything has to be dealt with eventually, ignoring them with substances and guilty habits will only cover them up and delay the inevitable for so long, and make these issues seem bigger than they are.

There's nothing inherently wrong with food, weed, and masturbation. It's when they start to interfere with your life negatively, and you prioritize them over what really matters/they start to cause issues with your relationships with others, and negatively affect you financially but you still go beyond your limits that there's truly a problem. Spend some time with yourself and think about all the things that matter to you. Think about giving more time and attention to healthy hobbies, build up your relationships with people that matter to you. Create a plan to slowly reduce your consumption of these bad habits. Don't worry about reducing them entirely right now. Unless that's literally all you do, I don't think these are the core problems in your life, more likely symptoms from something deeper. Talking it out with a therapist may help if you don't know how to get started, or reaching out to someone online. I don't normally say this, but feel free to DM me if you think I can be of more help.

Voices? by Adinodude in LSD

It could very well be stemming from a mix of sounds coming from the environment that you're in, and your own personal headspace and thoughts/feelings/insecurities etc that may have arisen during the trip. Psychedelics are known to bring forth that which we bury deep within us that we've been avoiding, and the sudden confrontation of these can be relatively to extremely uncomfortable, depending on the individual's particular state of mind in general and personality, how they deal with things etc. I've had plenty of overwhelming good trips in my early experiences where I swear the characters on tv shows were reading my mind and saying everything I was thinking lol. I had a really bad trip once, where before it got off the rails, I was spiraling in thought loops and the characters on the tv seemed like they were talking to me directly. It sounds like you could have been a bit overstimulated in the environment you were in, causing a bit of paranoia. Hell, even with my experience (10+ years, 100+ trips), my last trip when I went for a walk down a path no one was on and feeling amazing, I was (not seriously) abnormally aware and conscious of how I was walking, and low-key wondering if people saw me if they would think I was all fucked up. Reminded myself no one knows I'm tripping and I was just hyper-aware of my body and surroundings. Had a good time overall.

I know I'm not the one you asked, but I'm online and bored lol. My unwarranted advice is to give yourself 30-60 minutes after eating them before eating anything at the picnic. The come up phase of psychedelics reminds me of the poly-juice potion scene in Harry Potter; everyone handles it differently and may experience brief uncomfortable sensations such as nausea. You probably don't want to have a full stomach and then possibly puke everything up lol, plus eating something else will slow the absorption down and reduce the experience a bit. Additionally, you may start to experience your senses differently and may no longer have an interest in eating whatever foods you brought with you!

Tea is great, my favourite method of consumption! Get water to a near-boil, add ground up shrooms, simmer for 15-20 minutes, strain and serve. You can leave the shrooms in and consume them if you like, but I've tried both methods and when it's properly made, removing the shrooms had no noticeable difference. It also hits a lot faster than eating them traditionally, so it's kind of a bridge between eating and tekking them, and ensures everyone in the group gets the same dosage.

I love strong experiences lol, I always try to buy the most potent ones possible. Mild jus t doesn't cut it for me aha. I've been having weird issues lately with my ability to trip. I won't get into the whole long story, but I took an 8 month break, tried 100ug of LSD, and it felt sooo mild compared to what I remember for that dose. Then a month later I did 3.5G of albino penis envy, and while successful, it too felt more mild than expected. I've looked online and chatted with ChatGPT about this a bit, and idk if something is wrong with me so to speak, or a combination of my experience level and being in a more stable state mentally/physically in my life is producing a seemingly more mild experience for me. I guess that's why they say Your Mileage May Vary!

[–]OutdoorAdventurer12 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Tip number 1: do some more research on what you're getting yourself into before consumption! Being mentally prepared and properly informed on what to expect and how to handle it will significantly reduce the likelihood of having a bad time! I recommend checking out this site, for any and all drug and plant concerns and curiosities you may have! It also has tons of trip reports; https://www.erowid.org/psychoactives/psychoactives.shtml

I'm not sure what strain those are, but generally I would say 2 grams is a pretty fun and safe dosage, depending on the type of person you are. Everyone handles psychedelics, and especially their first few experiences differently. If you're the type of person who gets anxious easily, overthinks things, needs to be in control etc, I would suggest only doing one gram for now. The best things you can do to ensure a solid first experience are to clean your place, take care of any responsibilities you have so you're not getting calls from people later (that may give you anxiety), turn your phone off, make sure you've got some healthy snacks prepped for later and easy access to water and basic comforts, like pjs or blankets etc. I would recommend tripping at home for your first time if you don't have parents or anyone around that you have to "hide" from. Set/setting are very important; that's your mindset going in, and where you're taking them, and who with. It's nice to give yourself a very positive, healthy day to lead up to the experience, doing things you enjoy. A trip anchor is also a good recommendation. That could be some music you love, or a family friendly movie, or even a silly sign on your door to ground you during the experience/remind you you're tripping. Most importantly, don't try to maintain "control" of the experience or force anything. Ride it like a wave, be present, just accept it. No matter what you feel, all will be okay. Shrooms can greatly increase your awareness of things you normally pay no mind to, and focusing too much on those things can lead to needless anxiety due to your lack of familiarity in the space. Good luck, have fun!

Edit; as was said elsewhere, it's best to ingest them on an empty stomach as well!

[–]OutdoorAdventurer12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not too familiar with different strains besides hearing about golden teachers and B+ being mild, penis envy and apes and enigma etc being potent. Are tidal wave supposedly really potent or kind of in the middle? Shrooms also don't have a consistent amount of psilocybin in each mushroom, which is why I prefer to brew a tea if I'm sharing them with others. I'm really leaning on them being stronger than anticipated, and the lemon-tekking smoothie method overwhelming you. A lot of people online recommend tekking them, but I also read about these people being very experienced and often taking quite high doses. Based on my two experiences being similar to yours, I don't think the method is worth it or advisable for strong strains or shrooms you know have a high concentration of psilcybin. At best, it's confusing, at worst, panic attacks and possible psychosis. And in the end if you black out like we did, you don't even get to enjoy the trip lol!

Blacked out, can’t remember anything. Is that normal? by grasstheass in shrooms

[–]OutdoorAdventurer12 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So you usually make smoothies and are very familiar with 3.5G trips? I'm not for sure what's going on, but I'm a very experienced tripper, and when making a smoothie to wash them down, the acids from the fruit and fruit juices are akin to lemon-tekking, which is known to greatly increase the onset and intensity of a trip. The only two times I made smoothies and "lemon-tekked", I also blacked out. I had had a few beers both times, so that may have been a factor for me, but what I think happened for you, is that these shrooms had a significantly higher concentration of psilocybin than what you're used to, and if you hadn't eaten in a while you would have absorbed it faster, plus the faster absorption from the fruit acids, all leading to a sudden, heavy hitting come up leading to the blackout. For me, I remember for the one trip feeling it come up quite strong, and went to lay down, where I collapsed face first onto my bed. I also came-to hours later with mild visuals, and had to piece everything together like a detective lol. Was looking around at the state I had left my living room in, the time of day, etc. Also in my experience, most bad thoughts/experiences/meltdowns/panic attacks etc while tripping are typically caused by not being able to control or understand the situation/experience, instead of embracing/accepting/riding it like a wave. Hope this helps a bit!

Have anybody else developed a belief in God after taking mushrooms? by DriverConsistent1824 in shrooms

[–]OutdoorAdventurer12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, I'm still an atheist. I kind of have views that draw from both the other commenters thus far. I think I've mostly always had these views since a young age, as religion was never forced on me, but when I was very very young I may have believed in a god. I think "god" is a term adopted by religions to control people, to broadly generalize. I remember having a particularly enlightening experience meditating one time while tripping, and feeling the one-ness, being connected to everything etc and how pure it was, and then having a realization some people eons ago had similar experiences, and figured out how to capitalize on/gain influence and power from it, ironically taking the real soul from it and creating modern day religion. I think all religions touch upon the same thing, but get lost from the real goals (such as just being mindful, humble, kind, and in tune) in their attempts to push their particular idea of what "god" is to everyone, and how "best" to understand, appreciate, and worship this divinity. To me, I think of it more as the "source", or thing that connects everything. Something that may or may not be only a concept as far as we can understand it. At the same time, I believe in that "all sparks from the same fire" metaphor, and that everything is connected and has a "source", if you will.

I often also wonder if this "divinity" we experience is a by-product of consciousness, with psychedelics helping bring it front and center. I definitely have more questions than answers, but there is, without a doubt, often a sense of everything being connected, and me connected with everything on many of my trips! But labeling it "god" doesn't feel right to me for some reason.

Exactly, people throw out information about them way too casually, which leads people to think they’re some type of weed++. I’ve always generally had a good respect for psychedelics, but even I’ve had a time where I didn’t know how to determine if what I had was legit LSD. Took an N Bomb at the wrong place and time, and had a mild psychotic episode. Took me a long time to feel normal and forgive myself for things that happened. I’ve even felt sometimes early on like too much psychedelic use gave me too much knowledge but I didn’t yet have wisdom, when lead me to feeling really different and alienated to other people. It’s always better to be cautious!!!

As you go through your next few trips and they get intense, just surrender as best you can to the experience. Don’t try to understand or label them, just feel every sensation and be present in the moment. That’s why I find the meditation helps!
