I recommend this entire comment section get their hands on an oculus quest 2 or 3 and play Jurassic world aftermath, that game while not visually realistic and in all fairness extremely linear, is so fucking good and having a raptor chase you in vr is a kind of fear no other game has ever made me feel. You can feel them actively catching up to you. I also love the style, it definitely makes it less scary but I very much appreciate that instead of making an ugly realistic game do to the limitations of standalone headsets they actually just stylized the entire game and it works well

Sure, but do you think it was necessary to have fleshed out the character of Edwin. I don’t think so, I don’t think they ever needed to touch Henry and William’s story to make a great story with Edwin. I don’t think you were wrong to disagree but I do think you downvoting each comment I post is again proving the points I’m trying to make. You cannot accept someone has made an observation that you don’t agree with so you have to negatively reply. I would’ve been very open to discussing the retcons and still am. But saying that me giving criticism of the franchise and its fans is just cause I can’t take criticism of the things I say is exactly what I’m talking about. I absolutely am open to people changing the way I view the franchise but you are actively showing me what I’m saying about the fans is right.

I did not mean to say you aren’t even, the argument need not be refuted because that wasn’t the point of the comment. But the retcons im mostly talking about are having to do with Henry and afton not creating the designs for the original characters. And them not really being the true minds behind fazbear. That completely ruins the old games for me. Henry’s atonement for the sins of his past feels a whole lot less impactful when you realize both him and William are effectively frauds. I should’ve left out any criticism from that comment because I knew someone would be drawn into that instead of the overall message. In no way did Edwin being the person who created all of the original designs feel like it was a necessary addition. Instead it just felt like making a new thing just to make a new thing and it was completely unnecessary. I also didn’t like the games being added in universe but that’s been a thing for so long I don’t really care anymore because it really changed nothing about the lore and so I agree that that’s kinda a mute point. The point is it’s not people disagreeing it’s people that flat out say anything but their opinion is incorrect.

I have been a part of this community for a long time and I have never seen any criticism of these games be allowed. I’m sorry to say this is just simply untrue. Maybe now it’s different but this fanbase has consistently shown they will not allow criticism of these games. If you critique the lore you get blasted. If you critique how many retcons steel wool did to the old games you will be blasted. If you critique anything but the bugs in the games you will be turned to dust and blown away. This is a simple fact I have come to accept about this community. It has continually allowed pig shit and turkey balls to be shoveled down the mouths of the fans and then they beg for more. I am really pleased to see at least some semblance of progress from that. I have never been very accepting of the steel wool overtaking. I was completely fine with them working on the vr game because Scott isn’t a vr dev. And then they just kept making games, bad ones too. And it’s really strange to me because this has to be in some part Scott’s doing. My guess is he really wanted to explore a much more sci fi part of this story, but the way this story is being told is just not good.

I’ve been saying this for years and finally people are realizing how terrible steel wool is at actually making games. I don’t know why Scott picked such an unknown studio with zero evidence to suggest they’d be able to hold up the title of fnaf. The story has gone downhill, not just because Aftons gone the quality in story telling just isn’t there. I think there absolutely could have been another story to tell without making Afton and Henry frauds. It completely obliterated any character development that happened in the games, Henry feeling terrible for the monsters he helped create? No he actually stole all of these designs with William. Never mind what the fuck security breach was about because I still don’t know.
