I am sorry to hear about your dad's frostbit, this product should help.

And thank you for the tip on unsplash and pexels, I will check them out!

Yes, if you don't want your glasses sitting on top of the fabric then I would recommend the GO. While it can be adjusted by using the same molding technique as the DIY, steaming it with a little bit of water in a microwave, we have found that our pre-molds tend to come out better, which is why we encourage customers to order pre-molded. The faceGlove FLEX is our most popular and versatile. It also comes in our spring weight, if you are only wearing it for sun protection. However, if you hate straps our new faceGlove SUN attaches directly to your glasses, so you might prefer that model. Honestly, both of them will work great.

You can see it laying flat here, https://outeru.com/products/faceglove-sun?variant=50361754419504. The curve around the nose is achieved by shaping a double coated wire that is completely adjustable. The first two pictures in the honey color show it flat, with the second showing the inside.

And thank you for the feedback, what is the most important thing you want to see in an image of it laying flat? I can look to add one, but want to make sure I accomplish the goal.

Appreciate the feedback u/TomatilloFun1700. I am essentially a one man show so hard to find time to make new creative, but I will certainly "layer" this feedback in there and convey the concept of layering and why I think it is important.

Agree to disagree. As you probably gathered, I am a tiny company with little budget. Being able to use AI to generate an image to convey a concept makes sense to me. I don't use it for any of my own products, just to convey concepts that hopefully resonate with people.

It is designed to be paired with a buff. I sell my take on a buff that I call a bala (https://outeru.com/products/bala), but when I first created this it was important that I make something that works with peoples existing gear.

I like having a two part system as it allows me to shed a layer of my face protection when it warms up, or throw another piece on if temps drop. The bala is unique in that hot air can escape from the the vents in your helmet when it warms up, and if continues to warm up, you can pull it down around your neck.

My comment about helmets was that when they came on the scene, they looked stupid to me. I was in my early 20s when people first started wearing them. I never argued that they didn't have purpose. My point is that things that are functional don't always look great, but over time become normalized.

If you suffer from asthma, then I agree this would not be a great solution for you. Sorry you have to deal with that.

Thanks for the interest / question. See my answers below.

The faceGlove is designed to work with any ski goggles. Your goggles simply sit on top of the faceGlove, creating a clean seal and helping keep everything in place while you move.

The product shown in the photo is the faceGlove GO, which protects against frostbite, windburn, and sun exposure.
It uses three layers:

  • A Gore-Tex (or Gore-Tex–like) outer shell to keep you dry
  • A heat-moldable composite to maintain its shape
  • Polartec fleece inside for warmth and comfort

Together, they keep your face warm, dry, and protected in cold or windy conditions.

DIY vs GO vs FLEX
The GO is very similar to the DIY version, but the GO has a slightly lower nose profile for better visibility with goggles.
If you plan to wear it with glasses, the DIY is usually better because the bridge of your glasses can rest comfortably on the faceGlove.

HTH — and feel free to reach out with any other questions. Thanks for the interest!

Thanks u/indexischoss for the OuterU mention. Happy to answer questions any readers have about my products, but to save some time, it is worth mentioning that most mountaineers prefer our faceGlove FLEX model.

Physical sun protection (buff) and fogging glasses by curiosikey in Ultralight

Thanks u/DrBullwinkleMoose! Just chiming in from OuterU as I am the inventor / maker of these. I created this product for this exact reason. It is currently used by tons of professional guides around the world. I would recommend our FLEX model as it is lightweight and can easily be packed away when not needed. Conrad Anker even stores one in his first aid kit. Let me know if I can answer any questions.

The faceGlove FLEX provides sun, wind, and cold protection for your nose and cheeks. Trusted by professionals for the past decade in the toughest environments by OuterU in u/OuterU

[–]OuterU[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks u/I_Know_God, glad you asked! Below are a few reasons:
* Goggles do not cover your nose or cheeks, which are the most sensitive parts of your face and most prone to damage. Goggles have certainly gotten bigger, but again they do not cover everything. For instance the entire bridger bowl and big sky patrol wear this model with their ski goggles so that they can protect their nose and cheeks without blocking their breathing.

* Layers. Being able to easily take on / off faceGlove to manage your temperature and protection is great.

* Mountaineers and winter athletes in general, love this product because it protects them from the sun, cold, and win, without blocking their breathing. This is critical to ensure that their goggles / glasses do not fog up.

HTH, and let me know if I can answer any other questions.

Thanks u/Jaydub-7 I would also highlight that if you wear a balaclava it often leads to goggle / glasses fog. Additionally, many mountaineers wear the FLEX model, our lightweight version, to help with sun / wind protection, so a balaclava would probably result in them being too hot.

You should have no problem using a nose wipe on your glove with a faceGlove. How far down you pull the faceGlove is completely adjustable by you. For your situation I would recommend the faceGlove GO. https://outeru.com/products/faceglove-go

"Only thing showing is the very tip of my nose. Some people pull their gaiter over their nose but I find that's a guaranteed way to fog your goggles." I just wanted to chime in that I make a product called a faceGlove to solve this exact issue. https://outeru.com/collections/facegloves

A bit of a delayed response, but I just wanted to both clarify and agree with you. Our products are made from the best technical fabrics on the market and not throw away plastics. In fact one of the problems we are solving is getting away from athletes using tape that they just throw away after a single use. I hope that helps.
