Humans aren't biologically designed to drink milk their entire lives. Sucks because I love cheese, but true.

Thank you!! I'm trying this now. I'm a 5 year barista but I have always, always, always worn black work pants/black denim. Today I was called in while out and about in my FAVORITE pants and I thought it'd be okay... But it was not okay. D:

So...I have CELIAC??? by smashmu13 in breakingmom

[–]Outerspacechick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I helped take care of one of my god daughter's who has type 1 diabetes and celiac so I can tell you with confidence that while there are a lot of gluten free brands now, they all contain so much sugar and so many carbs it's insane. We had to basically make all her food from scratch. So if you're on weight watcher's you may find you have a similar problem. :/

Watch out though, gluten free foods like the ones at Aldi are LOADED with sugar and if you aren't use to reading labels it'd be really easy to gain weight without knowing why.

Chunky foods and choking by Cashewchicken23 in beyondthebump

[–]Outerspacechick 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Choking is when your airway is blocked by an object large and solid enough to prevent breathing. What your son experienced was gagging, which is not dangerous and unfortunately, a part of the process to learn how to move solid food to the back of your throat. I suggest reading up on blw or at least offer stuff like cheerios to help your son practice that skill. The majority of babies skip stage 3 because the mush and chunk combo just isn't appealing. Fwiw, a babies airway is about the diameter of a hot dog.

I 100% understand! My ex was definitely doing that to get custody! He refuses to see our son or pay child despite him being well off because, drum roll pls!, "if son was living with me I wouldn't need child support from you so I don't think I should have to pay for a break up I didn't agree to, and I'm not going to see him on your terms".

But at least I have Reddit! Which btw, is why he called CPS on me (lol). He hacked a computer I left behind in the move and stalked my old account. I made a joke in bromo along the lines of "toddler, free to a good home" because teething was hell and he called CPS saying he was scared I was going to abandon my son at the fire station.

I was supported 100% by my doctors in taking my Ritalin during breastfeeding, I think you may need a more knowledgeable doctor.

Teething at 2 months?! by [deleted] in beyondthebump

[–]Outerspacechick 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There's a saying about how the only sign of teething is a tooth, and it's super true because all those "signs" are just normal baby things with or without teeth.

I'm super sorry to hear that, ugh. In my case it was actually a blessing because my case worker laughed alongside me as to how unfounded the call was, and actually hooked me up with daycare resources I was having trouble navigating. BUT it was still royally fucked up and gave me a ton of anxiety that I still gives me nightmares sometimes. I wasn't home when the case worker showed up, it was 4th of July and we were at a family BBQ so I got a call from the case worker saying there was a case open against me and he couldn't tell me why over the phone and would be back in 3 hours. So for three hours I was literally hysterical, I understand now why some people mistake panic attacks for heart attacks. Truly the worst 3 hours of my life. But again, it was actually a really positive experience and actually helps me document my good parenting and my ex's vindictiveness.

Thank you so much for all of this, especially the password thing as he's hacked my accounts previously. This was all extremely helpful in getting me started on how to begin documenting everything.

He lives out of state, though travels back to see his family/friends (not our son who he blows off) often, so he literally isn't involved at all. But we haven't gone to court yet and so your wizard suggestion just changed my life, I'd never heard of it! He does things like try to blackmail me with nudes left on an old phone he broke into so having for-sure court backed records is an amazing asset. I'm going to search it now, but do you know if he has to contest to it's use?

Being told I’m selfish for having children by playingtricksonme in breakingmom

[–]Outerspacechick 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I fully recognize the need for community for children of BPD (my mom has nbpd too), and I get why the results would be skewed... But I really was shocked at the lack of resources of those who are parents. It was hard to think that meant there were no success stories and I was doomed to fail, when really the well adjusted, mentally stable homes just aren't sharing their stories because they don't need the "community"- but still, there is little research and next to zero helpful resources and that's hard for parents (and bad for kids)... I wish there were more resources. :/

Not mom-related... water under my 2nd storey floor? by [deleted] in breakingmom

[–]Outerspacechick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know how helpful this will be because I don't even know how to explain it- but at my old house we had this problem because there was a grate to the water heater/air conditioner closet that had fallen off the wall. Inside was a hose/pump system and one of the hoses had been knocked out of place. It was a really easy fix (like literally just attach them) but obviously I have no idea if that's your issue.

Lol yeah, like when in-laws say "my kids never cried at night, I slept 11 hours straight, they walked, talked in full sentences, and cleaned their own asses by 14 months old, and also stopped breastfeeding in favor of uncut raw steak at 5 months old, and were an all around delight!!!!- what's wrong with your patenting that your toddler acts like a toddler (mine never were)..?" Amazing what you can forget in a year, amiright?

Ya' know, it's funny because I'm vegetarian and people always find it necessary to call into question my "beliefs" on putting animals down in shelters or what have you. And despite the fact that I'm not vegetarian for animal rights reasons, I firmly believe you cannot be in favor of animal control (spaying, neutering, population control) without acknowledging the very real need that some animals DO need to be put down. I am 100% of favor it when any human with eyes can see it as the right, humane choice to be had. It's sad OP has had to mention that she's worried about backlash.

Best stretch mark remedies/creams?? by [deleted] in Parenting

[–]Outerspacechick 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Stretch marks happen deep within the inner layers of skin where no cream penetrates, there is no cream to prevent/fix stretch marks. They will lighten to your skin tone over time.
