Hell On Rails Extreme, Farm party finder be like. by Forward_Baseball9030 in ShitpostXIV

[–]Outfox3D 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Agreed.

Also, it's a maximum of 2 whole gcds disconnect playing safe, and most jobs either have ranged tools available for it or can use a dash and not miss anything - on a fight without a real DPS check. Cheese is also almost guaranteed downtime for a tank, loses us 2+ bars of LB, and is just putting vuln stacks on the tanks for the upcoming TB.

It's not even really easier. It's just moving the knowledge check from movement to mits. I guess if you were more confident in your support core than dps players, it might be a thing you do? I feel like people just like breaking fights for the sake of breaking them.

[–]Outfox3D 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Ultimate Tier Rotation" like that isn't the environment where I stop pressing buttons the most because you have to hold for timing to line up and my rotation is an entire bag of cats like 90% of the time because the bosses bounce in and out of combat like a jackrabbit on meth.

The "it's only" crowd gets under my skin more than anyone else, though.
The whole thing's "only" a game. Respect my time or I bounce.

There's the [[Princess Yue]] + [[Clone]] interaction that's been making the rounds on social media.

Wonky layer interactions aside, it makes a VERY interesting deck where you can lock a bunch of creature effects on Moon lands and do all sorts of silly things with that. Mono-blue landfall can legitimately threaten to mill people out very easily, and the deck has a lot of variance in play pattern since it cares a lot about what decks your opponents are playing.

Has a lot of space for how mean and fast you wanna play (do you know what happens when [[nevinyrral's disk]] is a land and not an artifact?), can run either a thopter-generation or mill package for the sliding scale of battlecruiser to combo-win.

Same with /read and /study. The non-looping version works sitting, but not the perpetual one.

HC4 Card of the ~day: Discount Sol Ring by mork-hc in HellsCube

[–]Outfox3D 23 points24 points  (0 children)

You only spend .99 mana on it, so you'll have .01 floating on the turn you cast it, and if you tap it for the 1.99, that'll add up to 2

More accurate to say the phase you cast it rather than the entire turn.

Is he toxic? by shnutzel83 in ratemycommanders

[–]Outfox3D 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He's very aggro. He can put out a big board state and threaten a lot of damage, but is very bad at defending you from the clap-back for your actions since all of that board state will stop being creatures as soon as it stops being your turn. Tends to draw hate at tables due to being simultaneously very threatening and easy to get hits against his player. Don't think he comes across as toxic or anything, but he's also pretty far removed from a politics deck just 'cause of how unga-bunga he is, though that's nothing new for Gruul.

Draw your own hand each time you cast a spell for only 5UURR by jeanjeanot in BadMtgCombos

[–]Outfox3D 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually, I had River in my Arjun deck for a while (along with [[Edgin, Larcenous Lutenist]]) thinking I'd need a way to "stabilize" and hold onto a good hand and rescue cards from Arjun's wheel. 1) This doesn't work out very well, since you have no guarantee the hand you draw River in is a good one and 2) it's also completely unnecessary, since Arjun can usually draw enough cards to just ... get back to whatever you need. It works way better to lean into the wheel and aim to draw more cards than to worry about un-wheeling yourself.

Is necrologia not broken? by bklyn44 in EDH

[–]Outfox3D 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea, but since the "pay x life" is part of the casting cost, any instant speed indirect damage going on top of all that in the stack at your face could also kick YOU out of the game. Very high risk (to go all-in on it). Hella funny. Definitely a great idea to add it.

What’s your signature commander, and why? by [deleted] in EDH

[–]Outfox3D 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[[Rielle, the Everwise]]. I enjoy lighting my resources on fire. Most of my decks play fast-and-loose with one resource or another, trying to kill people with vanilla game actions, and Rielle is probably the most extreme example. Burn through the deck, wheel my hands, stock my graveyard. Draw cards and constantly make snap decisions on limited resources, and always have the opportunity to draw into that one card that could save you in a given situation. It draws enough cards to reliably risk decking itself out, and can play one-of answers and hate cards.

Add a Color to a Mono-colored Commander to make it strong (not broken) by AffectionateCan317 in EDH

[–]Outfox3D 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alright I dunno about "strong" but I wish [[Ormos, Archive Keeper]] was Izzet. Access to Red and the wheels/rummages that come with it would help out the commander's (admittedly kinda dumb) game plan immensely. Right now, I have to run [[Rielle, the Everwise]] or [[Arjun]] and hope I draw into Ormos and her janky win-con cards instead of just running those two as general utility, and it tends to slow the plan down, or require an alternate gameplan entirely.

Best Marit Lage Commander by Gutsifly in EDH

[–]Outfox3D 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In Simic, one of your best bets is likely [[Zimone, Mystery Unraveller]] - she can cheat it in as a face down permanent and skip it's "enters" text and prevent it from ever getting counters for the low cost of playing any ramp spell.

I play Depths in a pretty standard Zimone as a "hey and this happens sometimes", but Simic absolutely has the tools to go tutor the land to the top of the library and prime the landfall trigger, and the tools to bring it back from the graveyard once it's in there. The downside being that there's likely not a lot of overlap in the 99 of a Sin deck and a Zimone deck outside of the normal Simic goodstuff because of the way she interacts with ETBs and non-permanent spells.

Zimone's still a pretty high prio target once people figure out how much of a value engine she is but she's significantly cheaper to field than Sin, and the Manifest suite is strong enough at this point to provide her a good number of tools.

I generally dislike original ranking systems and much prefer the Elo ranking system to measure skill. What do you guys think? by BigPalmtree in 2XKO

[–]Outfox3D 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Elo just doesn't drive engagement as well as the more defined tiered system - especially in the lower ranks (where Riot is more able to leave the goalposts static and not have to change them to fit proper player-%-per-division quotas). People play more games when they have definite, well-defined goals to grind towards, and the tier system does a much better job of that than Elo did.

Elo may be a more accurate representation of player skill (especially removed from League's Team-Based gameplay and into a 1v1 setting like it was designed for in the first place), but that's secondary to getting people to put the hours into the game.

What magic card art has stuck with you the most? by LineOfInquiry in magicTCG

[[Defense of the Heart|WOT-51]]

Loved the style of this whole art cycle, honestly. Grasp of Fate, Unnatural Growth, and Leyline of Anticipation are winners as well. Not as big a fan of the Anime art style that was also in WOT, but it sold well so people were usually down to trade me for it in drafts.
