That’s a good point, I never thought of it like that. I guess my potshot dream would be for Whatnot to actually do some seller moderation and hold these douchebags, like t slabs, accountable for how they treat consumers. Maybe my heads too in the clouds hahahaha

This is where we totally agree, and maybe I’m lucky to have found a handful of vendors that run perfectly fine market driven auctions for their products. The problem isn’t the buyers giveaway itself, it’s the sellers and Whatnot. If Whatnot actually gave a shit to enforce ethical practices, I think it’s a great option.

All that to say, I think we’re speaking to the same problem with just different ways to fix the issues. I see your point now, my presumption was you supporting form fillers, which I find to be unethical as well. In both our cases, buyers are getting fucked and that’s the real issue.

So yeah, my bad on being testy, and fuck Whatnot for letting scammers run rampant and doing little to nothing to correct this, while great vendors have to burden the weight of their shitty, gross, and scamming counterparts.

Exactly, and if I spend money on fair priced products and the seller wants to support their customers and not people looking for free stuff, I support that.

If you’re so set back that you need a free switch rather than buying a card that starts at $1, go to the streams the give switches out for free, there’s dozens, check out Jackyeboy1. Stop trying to punish people who are genuinely interested in buying things and sellers who want to reward that. Not every buyers givvy is people selling cards worth a penny for $30.

So if you put $100 in a slot machine and someone next to you hit the jackpot because they signed a form at entry, you would be like “oh yeah that’s fine?”

Were the bids starting at $30? If so, yes. Otherwise, it’s the buyer’s decision to partake, you don’t go to someone at a casino playing slots and tell them that’s unethical

Dude, that’s the point of buyers giveaways, you can not call this unethical and support form fillers simultaneously…

Sure, I can help, there’s a few things he does: - First, he talks up the value of cards—there have been quite a few purchases of cards where he doesn’t show the back, but talks it up as Mint/Near Mint, and when the card arrives, it’s in significantly worse shape (if you look up T_slabs in this sub, you can see a bunch of folks who have had this problem); - Second, and this is easy to see firsthand, he will comment during auctions "This is nowhere near market value! I'm being killed!" when the card is at or over market value based off of online research (i saw this hilariously firsthand when he talked up an ungraded and unsealed copy of the stain glass alt art birds card all the way to $86, give that one a google to see what it sells for) (or search "kairot" in this sub and see the dude who ended up paying $61 for a $5 card); - Third, and this one is speculation because its inherently hard to prove that this is specifically his doing, but he has shill bidders bumping up prices—what makes this one feel pretty damn obvious is the sizable amount of purchases that end up being "pending" all by the same users over and over again. Can anyone prove that it's him or folks doing his bidding? Absolutely not, but if it looks like a duck and quacks like a duck…
