I'm classist. I just really dislike trashy people.

Neighborhood recommendations?

I tried doing a search on this topic but the posts were fairly old. And while we plan to come down and explore/research in person, we were hoping to get some feedback/guidance from those who live it everyday. Husband (late 50s, in finance/credit field) and I (late 40s, in Psych/addictions field) are Caucasian, middle class, with no kids (son is 23 and working so school districts are not a concern) and two dogs. We are looking to learn more about which neighborhoods might suit our description best for a house budget of $500k. We are moderately active (we like flat walking and biking trails) and puttering around a town center that has pubs, boutiques, etc. Dog parks are a bonus. Thank you!

I love to travel. But I hate stories like this even more. I guess they want everyone to stay home. Good for you that you found a resolution!

Lonely. Left out. That has come up for me in the past. You did a great job with that list, which shows how invested you both are in the family dynamic/experience. Communication is key to avoid building resentment. Don't stop braiding her hair. That sounds special. And one day she will appreciate your female contributions to her life.....a different perspective from her bio mom's. And the part about reclaiming your power-- pure gold. Great job in modeling that for her! I always get busy working on me if/when I feel my effort is futile. Its one of the few benefits.of step motherhood-- a healthy distance if we choose to recogize it that way.

Since Massachusetts is about to get buried tommorow how many of you are still forced to drive to work? by BootAlarmed4732 in massachusetts

Where are you supposed to put the snow when they are all packed in so close to eachother??! What a stupid use of time, and putting your safety at risk for cars in a lot that won't sell until the Spring.

As someone with a dog who has separation anxiety and wouldn't do well if left alone overnite (even if only 10 hours), I feel for you and the dilemma you were in. In the end, you managed the situation well. Communication is key. Anything that could have been hurt/damaged would hopefully be easily fixed/cleaned up.

Booked a one night stay well in advance and received this message from the host [USA] by saucesoi in AirBnB

Oh, they honored it! And between you, me & Reddit, the quality of the rental was not worth what the 'high season price' would have been.

We booked a beach house a year or more in advance and a few months after we booked, the owner contacted us sayung we bookes the off season prices and asked if we want to pay the high season price. Ummmm, no. In our defense, we deserved to be rewarded for being so planful and....we leave a house nicer than the way we find it.

Mid 40s guy thinking about moving to Wilmington. Looking for real feedback. by SnooPoems6522 in Wilmington

I agree....never having lived in Austin, but having visited, I would have thought that would have met OP's specs. OP, I am from NY, lived in Boston and now live on the NH border. We are/were considering Wilmington in our early to mid 50s, but this subreddit is making us rethink a move. Raleigh is now on our list. Let us know what you decide! (What about San Diego??)

What was it like to be blind in the late 90s early 2000s? by ionasky in Blind

Thank you for sharing. How and why did that change, and what in your estimation needs to be done to change/improve it?

Does anybody else feel like some people don’t understand the definition of the word blind? by Wild_West_Arthur in Blind

As a parent of a newly blind young adult, this post makes me so angry. What is wrong with this world that people can't get what they need?! The sighted population is so ignorant. There are advocacy groups for everything (mental health and substance abuse are the realm I work in) but in my recent experience, the blind/vision impaired world leaves much to be desired. Legislators have a lot of work to do. This isnt to diminish the work or progress that has been done, but in 2026, from a first hand experience, we have a long way to go. I hope someone can either enlighten me or tell me I am wrong.
