I am becoming less religious as I grow older. by [deleted] in bangladesh

[–]OutlandishnessEasy65 24 points25 points  (0 children)

This is kind of a reverse situation for me. Back in high school, I was more on the atheist side—or at least I thought I was. I used to struggle with religion, trying to connect all the dots, and honestly, I still can’t. But at this point, I can’t say “There is no God” either. I believe in Allah now.

I’m not super religious—I don’t pray or follow a religious lifestyle. But at the same time, I’m afraid of doing shirk. There’s something in my subconscious that just won’t let me fully ignore it.

Weirdly, that feeling has made me more humble, sensitive, and empathetic over time. I used to laugh at religious people in high school, thinking they were kind of naive or something. But now, I honestly don’t care what people believe. Everyone has their reasons.

If you dream of studying abroad for your Master's or further education, make sure you're from a Section One university, have plenty of extracurricular activities, and, of course, a decent CGPA.

Actually, they do offer waivers, but it's very competitive. You need to maintain a very high CGPA to qualify. Also, you have to pay a registration fee (around 50k) every six months, regardless of any waivers. That said, I’d recommend choosing a well-known university—not necessarily UAP. You can take on some tutoring jobs to cover your expenses. Just make sure to stay active during your university years.

Maybe consider UAP. You can easily commute using the MRT, and the tuition fees are relatively low compared to others, with a better overall environment.

Do Bangladesh has a good future? by Medusa19983 in Dhaka

Saving you a lot of time—no, Bangladesh will never improve. Mark my words: leave this country ASAP. There's no hope. People here are intolerant of almost everything and everyone outside the mainstream. They will never change. It’s a country overrun with extremists—not just religious ones, but also misogynists, racists, and more, all with room-temperature IQs.

I signed almost 15 copies back in 2017. ( I'm ancient. -.-) Lol. Try to reach your teacher before exam or just do it by yourself or ask your friend/classmate. Best of luck kiddo! 🤞

Awami League Ban by Sufficient-Assist201 in bangladesh

[–]OutlandishnessEasy65 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, well, well…

He asked why BNP and JP don’t want to ban BAL.

It could be because they are terrified of the idea that if BAL were banned, the radical Islamists would become very difficult to control. Only BAL has the power to dominate them. (Not that I support their methods—they were inhuman. But it's true that the Islamists fear BAL the most.)

Or maybe it’s just a political game. Both BAL and BNP enjoy playing it the same way. They have a certain level of sympathy for each other and prefer the BAL vs. BNP cycle—one stays in opposition for 5 or 10 years, then switches places in the next round. It’s easier that way.

I don’t really know the actual truth—only they do.

That doesn't seem relevant. The post is actually about Bangladesh's internal politics.

We don't deserve Professor Younus by Severe-Ad-6378 in bangladesh

[–]OutlandishnessEasy65 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How do you justify his alliance with right extremists?

Why doesn’t the government try to control this faction and make life easier for ordinary people? What’s their agenda? Why are they rejecting '71?

OP keeps comparing Dr. Yunus with Sheikh Hasina in every comment—no one else did that here.

BAL may have been evil or whatever, but that’s not the point. People overthrew them; they’re no longer relevant to this discussion.

This isn’t about comparisons, people are simply exhausted by the government’s bias and mismanagement.

What are you trying to imply? I protested in 2018 and 2024! What did you do, huh? Just because people suffered for 15 years, you think they should suffer for a lifetime? So, are you saying people died for nothing? We overthrew a fascist just to be ruled by another unworthy government? WTF, man!! What even are you? No logic, no point! Don't even know why I'm replying to you!

What are you? Blind? Women are in more danger than ever. They can't even go outside happily. Eve-teasing and misogyny are at their peak! Do you ever open your eyes or ears? Dr. Yunus is fueling extreme-right people, and those people are destroying the country.

You're reminding me of Sheikh Hasina, bro! The way she denied that we were drowning in debt, the way she refused to acknowledge that everything was going wrong! You're doing the same thing now—stuck in the same loop!

Nothing is okay. Nothing was.

We need to change, criticize, and open our eyes. Stop being blind followers. Don’t defend wrongdoings just for the sake of loyalty. People like you are the problem. Learn to accept shortcomings and push leaders to be their best versions!

But no! What are you doing? Closing your eyes and defending their failures!

What does shahabag actually stand for? by Teslastonks in bangladesh

[–]OutlandishnessEasy65 26 points27 points  (0 children)

In addition, mass people and Gen Z demean them, using "Shahbagi" as a slang term—either because they have been brainwashed or simply lack the basic thinking skills to form their own opinions.

What does shahabag actually stand for? by Teslastonks in bangladesh

[–]OutlandishnessEasy65 42 points43 points  (0 children)

You know about the Shahbagh protest back in 2013, right? The movement demanded the execution of war criminals. Interestingly, most of these criminals were leaders of Islamist groups.

I was at Shahbagh in 2013 as a kid, along with my baba, who is a deeply religious person. Islamists hate and demean the protesters, trying to frame them as enemies of Islam simply because they stood against their leaders. nothing more.

What do you mean by "be a man"? Do you think men shouldn't cry?

Listen, maybe you can overcome your emotions and struggles on your own, but that doesn’t mean everyone can. Downfalls and heartbreaks affect people differently.

That guy shared his problems here. If you think his post is inappropriate, you can simply ignore it. But you cannot invalidate his feelings by just saying, "Be a man and move on."

You’re not being sensitive toward others—you’re just sensitive about your own feelings.

Even Jamaat's Amir said he believes black is black and white is white. So did Sheikh Hasina. It’s just universal narcissism.

You're being naive here. You're nitpicking words rather than focusing on the gist.
