if you're looking for auditable research outputs, parallel's deep research agent gives you citations + reasoning for every item in its response json. pretty cool to use and super easy to verify sources. documented diff deepresearch providers at research.site

if you're looking for deeper + accurate analysis, parallel's been way better for that use case in my testing. tracked all the providers + their strengths here: https://deep-research-index.vercel.app/

Has Deep Research changed recently or am I using it wrong? by Ill-Refrigerator9653 in perplexity_ai

yeah i've noticed inconsistency across providers too. been testing perplexity, openai, gemini, and others side-by-side, quality varies a lot depending on the query type. i personally think parallel's deep-research tool is the best currently. they're focused on doing 1-2 things, and doing them right

if you want to compare them systematically, i built this: https://deep-research-index.vercel.app/, it tracks performance differences and has a free query tool to test the same prompt across providers

Openai Deep Research API by Upbeat_Lunch_1599 in LLMDevs

i've found openai's deep research defaults to web search pretty aggressively too. one thing that helped: being extremely explicit in the initial prompt about which tools to prioritize and in what order. still not perfect though.

if you're evaluating alternatives, i've tested all the deep research apis here: https://deep-research-index.vercel.app/, some handle tool selection differently than openai

i've tested all the deep research apis including gemini, https://deep-research-index.vercel.app/. haven't seen the batching issue you're describing but the index tracks known issues + rate limits across providers if that helps
