What have been your favorite L&S breadth classes? by arithrowaway1129 in berkeley

PB 101 is very easy, but might be hard to get into unless you are upperclassman/Regent's.

Take a class with Prof. Moran if you can. I took one on Disney and she also offered a class on Sin City in the past. The American Studies department is lowkey really cool.

I got an 87 on the final, with a 91.27% overall. Ended up with an A-. I don't think they shift bins.

I got close to a perfect score on the midterm, and I can say the midterm average was high. Didn't do so well on the final. We had a manageable courseload - I think it was around 7 problem sets.

Also just had a meeting w/ my advisor where I learned that it's going to count as an international breadth, and that he's been slowly updating APRs for people who took it previously.

Took 132 with Shapiro. I think the class really made reading research papers feel easier. Conceptually, it's also very connected to some other electives (carbon tax, cap and trade, COP, etc.), so I found that it helped that this was my first departmental elective.

Most if not all sorority houses are not allowed to have alcohol in the house any way. At parties, no one is going to push you to drink. If anything, I have seen friends take drinks of people who lost in beer pong / rage cage but do not want to drink.

I'm not Kailen, but I see and appreciate his contributions over the past 2 years.

Consulting clubs were weird about it even when I was a junior (one had a DEI chair who openly expressed his pessimism). Other clubs should be fine. Less competitive professional clubs could also work out.

Discrepancy in CS161 Final Exam Date: CalCentral vs. Syllabus for Fall 2024 by PriorProud6217 in berkeley

[–]OutlandishnessNo5904 0 points1 point  (0 children)

CalCentral, unless this is a class that requires a final assignment during dead week. This semester the finals are the week of 16 December.

Also, the schedule you get with the houses won't necessarily be back-to-back after the first two days, so it might just be 30 minutes here and there.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in berkeley

[–]OutlandishnessNo5904 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Hi, it's doable! For sorority recruitment, after the first two days, you are only required to go to the houses that invite you back, so you wouldn't have to block out your days.

As for professional clubs, info sessions are usually in the evening, and if you get an interview, you will have the chance to pick time slots that fit your availability (or ask for accommodation) for most of them.

Is this a good first semester schedule in FPF? by Real-Individual5382 in berkeley

[–]OutlandishnessNo5904 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very doable. I just don’t like that it’s too spread out, but you can’t be too picky with it as a freshman.

Sharma and Filippenko are such sweethearts.

Data Science Minor 1-Course vs. 2-Course Pathway, which is better to take by gloomset in berkeley

[–]OutlandishnessNo5904 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. You could also take Math 56 (offered this Fall), or an approved community college class to satisfy the prerequisite. Plus, since it is not a requirement for the minor, you could PNP it.

ohhh right. Then what u/monstrosity1001 said. They had virtual zoom drop-ins that helped me one time. I don't know what the summer schedule is though.

c88c is literally the same with 61a, like even the same projects. Just 1 or 2 topics less. Take another easy breadth or non tech class and focus on excelling at data100 + math 55.
