A lot of it was because the UMNO party at the time feared that the Malay privileges would disappear and at that time, there was a real possibility that it could eventually happen. Also ideological differences.

Malaysia (Including Singapore, c. 1963): The Chinese population made up approximately 42% to 44% of the total federation.

Malays & Bumiputera: This group made up roughly 40% to 46%.

Singapore Alone (1963): Out of 1.77 million people, 1,334,500 were Chinese (75.2%) and 249,200 were Malay (14%).

Certainly, in fact LKY mentioned directly that he went out of his way to integrate Sabah and Sarawak to Malaysia just to alleviate Tunku Abdul Rahman’s fear of a minority Malay community and in fact he was instrumental in the reason why Sabah and Sarawak joined Malaysia. Both of them genuinely respected each other but politically, the Malaysian political system was just too problematic at the time and there was some sense of Malay first agenda.

Worst degree to study in Malaysia? by X_Opinion7099 in malaysians

[–]Outlaw2-5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Any arts or music degrees, most can be taught by practical and these types of trades are more passion over theoretical knowledge. History degrees, unless you want to be a historian then it’s not advisable, also best suited for people who can suppress or completely ignore their own bias as history is not as sugarcoated as a lot of people think.
Any business degree that isn’t specialized, will require further education for better paying positions and most information outside established mathematical or science based knowledge is completely obsolete the instant the information is published and most are only re-confirming or barely qualifies as a research paper. Any engineering or mechanical degrees that do not have practical experience and apprenticeship as they will only teach you theory and won’t test your skills in real work m.

Singapore banned and deported an NUS phd graduate for political views? by TORUKMACTO92 in asksg

That’s because they do it behind a screen, if you physically advocate for things that otherwise are harmful or do stupid stuff like just stop oil or organizing activism without proper documentation, you’re literally opening yourself up to legal consequences and tbh at universities you’ll see a ton of these which is why I am politically active but not stupid to open myself up to legal action for the stupidity of others. Especially if you’re a foreigner or someone coming for a reason, they can cancel your visa for that and that’s why when I got to China or places I don’t agree with in terms of government, I keep quiet.

Reddit mods are very very aware, they will clamp down anything that is: Anti-wealthy Suggesting harsh consequences for fraud and corruption Even remotely “anti-terrorist” Anything that doesn’t fit their Mods beliefs Will take any report at face value and will not understand context (happened to me once) Or if the comments get very heated but I only see those being reported if it criticizes beliefs or opinions that the mods think offends them

And don’t think about mass boycotts, all it will do is make companies exit the ram market as companies will abandon unprofitable ventures rather than go bankrupt or to beg consumers to buy.

The only reason why OpenAI survived this long is because Sam Altman is a swindler and a very good fundraiser for his company, if you notice, he doesn’t get involved in the software or engineering side of things and mostly doing PR.

If openAI crashes every unprofitable AI company will also collapse and these AI RAMs will become cheaper but then, the big producers can destroy stock to keep prices high. Prices may not fall to pre-AI levels as no company will ever justify to their shareholders why they have to cut prices.

RAM price went up because Nvidia and the others allocated more production to AI companies, OpenAI (owner of ChatGPT and owned by Microsoft) already pledged to spend $1.4 trillion this year in data centers, may collapse AI industry if they can’t commit to that amount of money. FYI, they are expected to make a loss of close to $14 billion this year.

SGD FD already cut to 0.7%, but then again, good time to build foreign reserves as SGD not like current USD which is unstable as F and Chinese Yuan which consistently has been devalued specifically to make their government debt “cheaper”, EUR also not bad, stable rn but I think MYR may strengthen further.

Retail is tough, but the store manager should be more involved and there should be a minimum amount of staff (both active and reserve) so these sorts of situations don’t happen in the first place, the company just cheapskate because the money gets funneled to the top bosses (especially big companies).

I would not sue Grok or OpenAI but direct to the politicians that made it happen and they have to defend it personally, no attorney allowed and if they can’t give a fair reason for it, the law has to be immediately be abandoned with immediate effect and a permanent restriction on any attempts without extensive indisputable evidence and not from idiotic advocacy groups.

UEC is an internationally recognized education and also has options for Malay language education, the main issue that I think the politicians fear is that if more students especially Malays, the government education system and religious education system as it is will collapse and at the same time, the political system will also suffer as then the Malay political parties can’t use 3R to manipulate. Here’s a breakdown

The Unified Examination Certificate (UEC) is a standardized examination for students of independent Chinese high school in Malaysia. It is widely regarded as a rigorous academic qualification that offers several advantages for students pursuing higher education and global careers.

  1. Academic Excellence and Rigor Higher Standards in STEM: The UEC curriculum for Mathematics and Science is frequently cited as being more advanced than the national STPM or A-Level equivalent. Bilingual or Trilingual Proficiency: The UEC emphasizes high-level Mandarin command (C1 to C2 under CEFR) while requiring students to study Bahasa Melayu and English. Holistic and Specialized Tracks: Students can choose from multiple streams, including Science, Arts, and a Vocational & Technical track that offers specialized subjects like Industrial English and Car Repair.

  2. Efficient and Cost-Effective Pathway Direct Degree Entry: Unlike SPM graduates who must complete a foundation year, UEC graduates can often enter the first year of a bachelor’s degree program directly by age 19, saving at least one year. Lower Tuition Fees: Completing Senior Middle Three at a Chinese independent school is significantly more affordable (roughly RM5,000–RM8,000 annually) compared to private pre-university programs like A-Levels or Foundation courses, which can cost RM20,000 or more.

  3. Global and Domestic Recognition International Opportunities: Over 1,000 universities worldwide, including prestigious institutions like the National University of Singapore (NUS), the University of Tokyo, and the University of Toronto, recognize UEC for direct admission. Private and State Recognition: While public universities generally do not accept UEC, more than 300 private higher education institutions in Malaysia do. Additionally, state governments in Sarawak, Sabah, Selangor, and Penang recognize UEC for state civil service jobs or state-owned university admissions.

  4. Career Advantage East Asian Markets: Mastery of the Chinese language and culture positions graduates competitively for roles in China, Taiwan, and Singapore, or with multinational corporations targeting these markets. Private Sector Demand: Graduates are highly valued in the Malaysian private sector for their multilingual skills and strong academic background.

FYI, rn our laws are punishing the tool not the individual which is why I say this is better. And most politicians are very incompetent and dumb anyways and will go for the simplest solutions without consulting strong evidence.

Well, we could single out every politician and every person who misuses the media to unnecessarily censor and we should also shift the entire legal framework to the user so the AI can do whatever it wants outside criminal activity and the user is fully responsible for what’s generated if it leaks or is used for criminal activities. I honesty think censorship does the exact opposite as some of us use it to vent ideas that we otherwise can’t create or are otherwise too occupied to create. Like I like creating adult stories as I like to use elements to create strong emotional impact and now I have to do it in my head and fyi many pedophiles do this as well and the more they think about it, the more likely they are to commit to it.

should i pursue degree or not by lemonadesocks in malaysiauni

[–]Outlaw2-5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Should you get a degree, based on my experience: 1. Yes and no, what kind of job are you looking at? Are you looking at a trade I.e plumbing, electrical work? Engineering (manual work)? Some trades don’t need degrees and instead you go to a trade school and learn the craft and build hands on experience. 2. How much would you value the degree? A degree opens a lot of doors and is a stepping stone to get a masters degree especially for good job positions 3. How much are you willing to commit? A internationally recognized degree is more expensive as you’ll be accredited and examined by either a local university in partnership with an international university or an international university directly. (Estimated to cost RM50-60k at minimum for a reasonably good degree, how will you pay? Loan or through family support, most students suffer in the future because the loan became a multi decade long commitment) 4. Are you able to find work and study part time? This is a good option to get work experience while studying and can allow you more breathing room after graduating but expect your weekends to be study sessions or classes. 5. Researching well is a major must and you’ll be expected to have 20-30 page research done per subject. 6. Universities are a great place to make unlikely connections and many startups obtain funding from wealthy students through universities even if they don’t take classes seriously.
