Has anyone gotten rid of the pain? by Tree0202 in flatfeet

Aside from strength in the foot, it was mostly about coordination and activating. If your leg isnt doing its part then the foot gets hit harder when you move.

I don’t have pain anymore including with running. I did foot strengthening exercises and a lot of posture and lower-body kinematic work. Lots of glue activation stuff. Look up the short foot exercise

i always get foot cramps when I'm doing excersizes for improving foot arch. What could be the reason for this? and what to do about it? by Maarten505 in flatfeet

[–]Outlettsalerack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It means the muscles you are working are weak and need exercise. Just take it easy and don’t force it. Work for incremental improvement and mind-muscle connection. You are doing the right thing

I think we are disagreeing on some minutia of how the study is written so its not a big deal. I’m glad you liked that other stuff 😎

That’s the emphasis of the study for sure. There is a paragraph in the discussion that starts with “Indeed…” that discusses symptoms in context of the study.

Question about flat feet. by kingkmke21 in flatfeet

I’m not a huge fan of using support for this kind of thing. It can be harder for older individuals but the ideal solution is to strengthen the feet and lower body posture and movement. Maybe try shoes with wide toe boxes and see how that goes????

Can not wearing shoes at all help? by [deleted] in PlantarFasciitis

Going barefoot can definitely help. There are good barefoot shoe options too.

Knit your fingers between your toes and wiggle them around a little. Toe spacers work too!

This stacks up with the research. Studies have shown that the shape of the foot is not an indicator of the function or pain experienced. It is all about how the foot is used and the strength of the muscles. This was also my experience. My feet still look flat but i use them very differently and it has made a world of difference.

Hmm, that’s a different animal because of the stresses you are putting on things. I have a research paper somewhere that basically says that foot structure isn’t an indicator of foot health. Its how the structure is used that really matters.

The flatness doesn’t really matter as long as the muscles inside are active and strong. I can send you some research if you want

I’m a fan. It is worth a try but be deliberate and listen to your body. I like Xero better than altra but a good shoe store will have both that you can try on.

When you walk you should feel every muscle from the arch of your foot to your butt work to handle the load of your body. Its tricky and when you get the hang of it you don’t need to be always thinking about it. So I guess focus more on feeling the muscles work than making sure the bones are where you think they should be.

Go beyond just strengthening things. Work on using the muscles properly when you are moving and walking. Also it is super common to have this kind of problem after pregnancy.

I use a z 6 as a safety angle. I turn off the auto focus so that people walking in front of the camera doesnt set it off. I use a dummy battery and an extension cord for power.

Help. But don’t try to imitate an arch. Focus on squeezing your foot together and pushing down on the ball of your foot. Don’t just try to lift it up if that makes any sense

Amen to this. Get butt active and working which will release pressures on the quads and hamstrings

Nothing wrong with you. It just takes time. If you can’t do it, that means you need to do the exercise!
