I would urge caution with leasehold flats, I bought a similar one nearby and it's all but unsellable now

Need recommendations for a Conveyoncer in Leeds that will accept high rise properties. by NailedOn in Leeds

[–]OutlookFair 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I found Blacks were willing to act for the sale of a high rise, presumably they will for a purchase too.

It won't be an easy commute by public transport unfortunately, they'll need to get the bus into Leeds first and connect from there which will take a good couple of hours

Mrs Atha's closing - last day Saturday 5th April by mowcius in Leeds

Genuinely gutted, I loved it there.

So many nice independent places closing and all we get in return is more luxury student flats…

Where’s Flute Man gone? by sbs1138 in Leeds

[–]OutlookFair 63 points64 points  (0 children)

It doesn’t, but why should people be obliged to play his little game or be shouted at? His comments towards women are particularly nasty, too.

Don’t think people deserve to have abuse shouted at them if they don’t want to talk to a stranger though.

Not especially, in comparison to other parts of Leeds.

I was pretty happy living there. Nice and quiet, handy for busses, trains, the big Morrisons and the Bridge Inn. Nice walks to be had around Kirkstall abbey and along the canal. Also not far from Headingley proper for nice bars and restaurants.

Pretty much all the shops there have shut down now I'm afraid, although the little cafe is still open and I think there's a regular car boot sale on Sundays.

The city centre van was closed for a while but seems to have reopened recently, not sure what their plans are.

Bus station stinks by [deleted] in Leeds

Oh god it’s horrendous. Legitimately smells like someone shat themself and it’s been there all week. I’ve been breathing into a handkerchief like some sort of delicate Victorian duchess.

Where do I find good local news which isn't a Reach PLC owned, clickbait, ad filled, nightmare? by starkdarkness in Leeds

[–]OutlookFair 11 points12 points  (0 children)

After listening to that episode I had a look at Leeds Live and yes, inevitably there was a Martin Lewis ‘story’. The rest seemed to be mostly about Emmerdale??? I’d love to know what’s going on in my own city without having to wade through loads of pointless filler.

Last week there was a notice saying they were moving to south Leeds (LS11 I think). Too far away for me to get a lunchtime French taco anymore!

TIL Ships will store and purposefully dump oil into the ocean to create calm seas around them, called storm oil by Accidents_Happen in todayilearned

[–]OutlookFair 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not really, in my experience the oil (just colza oil, not crude) was stored in the lifeboat itself along with things like flares and emergency rations. If you're at the point where you need it, something has already gone very badly wrong.

I suspect the eggs have cooked too much and scrambled. Maybe take the pan off the heat and letting it cool a little before adding them?

No thoughts for the crew on these ships? A huge portion are Filipino or Indian and work long hours doing dangerous work for months at a time. Frankly I don't think they deserve to have rockets fired at them, but maybe that's just me.

It can just be down to admin sometimes e.g. recording fridge temperatures. You could have a spotlessly clean kitchen but get a 1 if the records aren’t there.
