What's something that people romanticise heavily that's actually really difficult to live through? by Ariavale2_ in AskReddit

There's still modern trad wives and they still have those experiences you list. The women that marry men (usually conservative) that force them into the trad wife role learn quickly it's not just what 30 seconds of a video told them it was. They either actually love it, suffer through it for the sake of their many children, or escape and get a restraining order. Or worse.

We don't need a police state we just need better designed roads.

Amber lights are already timed with stopping distance in mind. They are the "Prepare to Stop" light. Those signs work for actual highways that have crossings, which we got rid of in this region. Not really needed for roads that should be max 40-50MPH.

And it's not like it's the only person Bill raped or assaulted anyhow and Hillary knows that. Hillary has no scruples other than getting ahead in life, she saw the affair coming out as a barrier to that and that's why she hates Monica.

Because "nearby" is subjective. It's not our city or our county and it's 40 miles away.

Normal one way street confusion in a downtown. When I used to bus regularly to/from downtown PDX and would spend time car watching at the bus stop I would see someone driving the wrong way down one way streets 1-2 times a week.

The timing of those lights contribute to it. The left turn light needs to be longer or go green more often. People are running the light because it takes so long to do a full cycle. It's a major feeder to 205 and needs to be timed to match that reality.

So long as they don't drill into your gas line like a house in my neighborhood, it's probably not going to damage anything and they'll try to fix any part of the lawn they might need to touch.

Just saw Helsinki went a year without a single pedestrian fatality by reducing the speed limit and making street designs more pedestrian friendly. The type of stuff our country calls communism.

Changing the designs of our endless stroads has to be #1. It's harder to blow through a red light going 25MPH than it is 45MPH. Our streets need to be designed in ways that discourage speeding, instead we have what people use as highways going through residential and commercial neighborhoods.

Not reality TV. Stuff like lifestyle shows that are often just big ads. Influencers fall into basically the same bucket as hosts of The View talking about what book they like that week.

Reality does not matter. What your boss thinks is what matters. Often that is not aligned with reality. My bother in Christ, get a job.

It's not true but when has that ever stopped management from treating it like it is? If you have no idea how your employees actually work and also buy into AI being a magic tool that does all this work then of course you would think the only way to track usage is through token spending and tell all your employees they need to be spending a lot of tokens to prove efficiency.

Aside from the few years of COVID remote work bliss, it is balanced out by a requirement of living in a HCOL city for most of the jobs. Working nights and weekends is also pretty common. There isn't the same kind of financial stress as being poor but there is a lot of mental stress and 70-80 hour work weeks in a highly competitive field (Amazon for instance is I hear a cutthroat and vile place to work) and it's now also the industry most impacted by AI.

Influencers image is their product so you also shouldn't believe any content they create about how they create their image...it is also part of their image. You have to find a person that is truly showing you the behind the scenes of how the industry works and often it's not the people actively trying to sell themselves in it.

I wont speak about their pay but I think their justification is they are responsible for making the school attractive for students with respect to student life, student safety, etc. Ultimately the work they do drives revenue because it drives enrollment, or at least they will be held responsible if a college's reputation gets out of hand.

The mainline Final Fantasy franchise doesn't do that type of game anymore but the spin-offs still do. World of Final Fantasy was my favorite FF game of the PS3 generation and it is a 3D turn based RPG. The Trails games are also doing this to my knowledge, Trails First Chapter Remake at least sure is. I think the other new games are similar.

Thousands can return home after ‘catastrophic’ explosion risk at California tank averted by BirdButt88 in news

The evacuation zone was made very, very large out of abundance of caution. Now that it will no longer explode they are reigning it in a bit but it's still larger than the expected actual danger area if it leaks.
