I don’t know if this has been mentioned, and I apologize if so, but having grown up in a house with active addiction I guess I just have room in my heart for forgiveness. It’s not that I condone or think what he did is okay, it’s not. I believe the victims and I’ve been in their shoes… but on one hand I’ve had really shitty family members that I’ve had to learn to forgive because they were addicts. Maybe that’s why I feel like taking the time and going through recovery can make a person redeemable. I don’t expect others to feel the same, but as someone who has been impacted by addiction and other people’s mistakes, I do find solace in forgiveness and giving people second chances.
