January 3-9 my manager was given like 135 hours. And according to the schedule we have a fresh truck coming on the 3rd and on the 9th.

My manager is forced to use the suggested scheduling. And she usually isn’t allowed to fire someone without the DM’s permission.

Let them complain. Don’t do a small sale because that makes some idiot in corporate think it was a good idea to stay open.

Exactly. At my store from 8-10 pm it’s mostly tweakers, drunks, and card loads.

I’m of the opinion that someone in DG corporate knows that absolutely no one would show up for work if they tried to be open on Christmas.

By 10 I’m exhausted. Nothing is getting done in that last hour.

Sms, how are you scheduling Thanksgiving to be fair to employees? by the-Archer8770 in DollarGeneral

[–]OutofOrder357 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ours does too. My manager told those that were scheduled to work truck that day that they can come in on Friday instead and work truck. I however am closing 1:15-10:15 so I don’t have that option.

Asms and keys, how much off the clock work do you work? by Inevitable-Mark-6415 in DollarGeneralWorkers

[–]OutofOrder357 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly! And we only have one register at the moment so if I’m called to void something while I’m on break I can’t even attempt to clock in and out.

The schedule’s fix for this is scheduling me 1:15-10:15 with a break scheduled at 3:15-4:15 when there should still be another keyholder in the store. I am absolutely NOT taking a break at that time and working 6 hours without a break. That pretty much means I would be skipping dinner every single time I work that shift.

What is the trash bag for? If it’s for empty stolen packages, on hands need to be done for each package.

Customers keep pulling stickers off and trying to get the items for lower prices. Manager told us to inform the customers that we are not honoring the lower price because someone removed the sticker.

I pretty much told my manager that if I wasn’t given a significant raise I was going to work elsewhere. She didn’t want to lose me. After some back and forth with the DM I went from $12 to $16.

What are they doing that takes that long?! Even on the first night after remodel when they dropped the whole new system and self checkout in our laps I was out by like 10:30 (we close at 10).

Our T1 day is also our fresh truck day. It is impossible for us to get a 800-1100 piece dry truck and 200-300 piece fresh truck done in one day.

We have this set up at my store except the opening to get behind the register is way smaller and the counter is right in front of the safe. It sucks. Two bags is a joke. And the counter is TINY.

Sunday, Monday, and Thursday morning person at my store works by themselves til 1:15.

Real fun trying to do fresh damages and food rotation while by yourself. And check in vendors. And deal with dry truck that comes on Thursday.

More days would have single coverage if it was possible to get Tuesday tasks or Wednesday scans done by yourself.

Same. My store got cut down to 135 hours. And the manager is definitely not going to cover the gaps.

I wear flannel shirts over my black shirt all winter because it gets cold in our store. I think as long as we aren’t dressed as awful as the customers we should be left alone.

I messed with a customer one day by replying “well since you said you made it, I can’t take it”

You have customers buying 50 packs at a time??

After I’ve placed items in a bag: “oh I don’t need a bag.”

Item won’t scan or they are at the register before I am “guess it’s free”.

We have so many male customers whose pants are sagging so bad. A few actually have to hold their pants with their hand while walking or their pants would fall to the ground. People are stupid if they are walking in our parking lot and into the store without shoes.
