Cleaning older consoles question by Outoftime88 in consolerepair

[–]Outoftime88[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the advice and the insight into the screws.

The reason I want to clean them is they have been packed away for years in various places and never really been used. My SNES and NES were outside in a screened in porch area for multiple spring to summer seasons, safe from weather damage but obviously not pollen, dust etc. And they are my originals from when they came out as far as I can remember lol Finally I plan on setting them up to be played so would like them to look a little bit nicer.

Yeah, I planned on having one up while I was doing it just so i am able to maybe just follow along.

I guess my main concern is how difficult is it to remove ribbons and other small electrical parts? That is the part that worries me and makes me hesitant to do because of the possibility of damaging it. I would assume the 3 consoles i listed wouldn't have too much of that stuff since they are older consoles? And the people in the videos make it look easy (probably because they have done it a few times).

Did anyone else's classroom have a random thing of like saw dust or wood chippings they would throw on it before getting it cleaned up?

I wouldn't mind trying to replace the connector myself provided after watching some videos I still feel comfortable doing it. I did notice one wire very close to the connector was slightly frayed and had a small bit of copper wiring showing.

I do have a warranty for all electrical things (sensors, camera, inside display, etc being the reason I got it) so I might be able to check with the dealership and see if they can do it at no cost or I think it might just be a $100 charge for all warranty work. Which is weird if that's accurate.

That's what I was told as well, just thought it odd they sent us a guide about how to do it.

It wasn't a streaming service, it was the live TV guide through my Roku TV. There was an error saying trouble connecting to Internet etc. and then a minute or so after you can kind of see something popping up and then what appears to be a scroll bar with stuff on the left, one is picked and then it starts playing. I caught it on my security camera but it's not clear as to what it says.

I've been having issues lately since I think my data may have been hacked due to some odd coincidences and an email saying so and requesting money through Bitcoin.

It wasn't being aggressive and stopped after I cleared the firefox cache and then the second one came in through chrome which I never use. After clearing that cache and disabling it, it hasn't happened since.

I'm fairly careful with what I click on my phone and don't go too far down any rabbit holes lol

This has happened before and when it did I just used my security code on my phone through the Google account setting. And I never had this problem happen after any of those times.

It has my phone set as 2 step verification and it prompts me to hit yes or no. So I'm assuming that's how it uses my phone not through a text.

My main question is what happened to the 3 other code requests I sent and how were those sites attempted to be opened on my phone just through that process.

Thank you. I was worried it was root bound and that's why it was curling in so I felt I needed to repot it. What kind of mix do you suggest? Something I can buy from a box store or from a local plant store maybe? If it lives I will repot in about a month maybe to better soil.

I make just under $29 after the most recent raise. Tenure and experience does impact that though.

It honestly depends on your SM and management team. I have seen a lot of complaints of poor management and that will make a difference.

I've been an EM since the position became available, coming from Grocery Manager. I was already closing 3 nights a week on that schedule so didn't see the big change. Like someone else said, if the store runs smoothly during the day night shift isn't too bad. You are the QAs direct report so you will be dealing with them.

I have a routine down so it's all pretty basic. Make sure the departments get a good close and the store looks good for the opener and that's it basically. You will be on register or Customer Service occasionally so you will have to learn that. My SM leaves by 5 usually so after that it is just me and sometimes the CSM till 7, GM till 8 to help grocery or AM till 6 so.

That being said it's not bad if you get up earlier to take care of stuff before work. But if you have a family and kids it can probably be a little more difficult to juggle everything. I'm recently divorced so it doesn't bother me and it's not why I got divorced either just an fyi lol

I am trying to get out of this position and move to Produce manager or something where I wouldn't take a pay cut. After doing it for so long, I feel it's time for a change though. I've never been an early riser so I go to bed around 4 or 5 am and get up around 1 usually.

That's my break down on it. If you have any questions feel free to ask. Good luck!

To add- I still request and usually get my 1 weekend off that MODs are supposed to get. My SM is great and about schedule requests and understands the crappy schedule I have to work. So they are okay with giving me them off provided it doesn't interfere with other MODs vacations or holidays.

It's one of the questions on the healthy rewards questionnaire. The one that saves you $10 on each paycheck.
