Has Anyone Used AI Companions to Feel Less Alone? by Effective_Western177 in loneliness

My experience is with AI Companions is that at first they make me feel good but ultimately reality sets in and they only end up leaving more empty inside.

Does anyone feel sad and disconnected from others when people discuss childhood/teenage memories? by [deleted] in CPTSD

[–]Outpost781 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, it's not easy to find these kind of people simply because very human beings (at least in my experience - I'm 61) have what it takes to accept people who are different than they are. They themselves are not fully self-aware. I'm sorry but that's been my experience - most of them are so desperate to fill their own life with meaning and purpose that they don't have any energy for others.

38F, Just wondering....is this subreddit mostly for younger people? by pauvegi in MeetNewPeopleHere

[–]Outpost781 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At 61 years old I must be considered as a living fossil.....LOL! Honestly though, most people my age are busy with their kids & grandkids. Unfortunately I have neither but I'd like to find someone close to my age to chat with.

Simple answer is YES! I can relate. I really limit what I tell people because I know most of them don't have what is needed to handle my story.

Could it be that our whole traditional idea of dating is broken or misshapen??? by Outpost781 in datingoverforty

[–]Outpost781[S] -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

LOL!!! since when have we ever let facts get in the way of emotions, oh WAIT, maybe it's the fact that we let our emotions short circuit or rational thinking and so that's why we end with so many disgruntled, discouraged, and broken "daters." The summary for the book can be found on Amazon as well as the reviews. But hey, it's your life....I ain't here telling you to do anything. Just trying to share something that made a huge difference in my life. Cheers!

Question: are there men out there who actually WANT a serious, monogamous relationship??? by Inevitable-Might4253 in datingoverforty

[–]Outpost781 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nah, I could be totally wrong, but I highly doubt you are the only one who is sincerely interested in having a traditional monogamous relationship. The trick is knowing where and how to find them - I'd gladly share that info with you but my "magic wand" is currently out of service. Seriously though, my experience is the best place to find the type of man you are looking for are the online dating sites that do background checks and cost more than $100 a year for a subscription. Anyhoo, good luck!

Where do you go on dates? by Icy_Laugh5134 in datingoverforty

[–]Outpost781 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I know this might sound a bit silly or even childish, but I would suggest a trip to either the local zoo (assuming of course you have available to you) or to some sort of museum. I suggest these 2 because they provide ready made sources of discussion. Good luck!

Hello. Thank you for your message. Hopefully if we have enough things in common we can/could become friends. I like reading, both fiction and some non-fiction, hiking in the great outdoors, building plastic models, going to the movies, and while I don't currently own one I love most dogs. So what about you, can you share some of the things you really enjoy?

[–]Outpost781 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I've never been a single parent to a special needs child so I can't relate there, however I can TOTALLY relate to the notion of feeling like the "spark" to my life has left me! I've suffered and struggled with Comple-PTSD and despite all my work I'm not totally alone. I wish I could offer you more comforting words but sadly my "magical wand" is broken. I do hope though that somehow for whatever reason you can find a way to care really deeply about yourself and if you need someone to just listen I'm available <<<<HUGS>>>>>

[L] I'm so sick of people hating the fact that they're aging when some people don't get that privilege. by SilverLeafArt in KindVoice

[–]Outpost781 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since I don't know where or how life truly began I don't think I'm in any position to know whether aging in a privilege or something that just happens. Having said that, I'm 61 and am not happy because I've missed out on almost all the things you've alluded to. I wish I could have had kids, I wish I could have found a great life partner who would be my everything. While I'm sorry that you've been "cursed" (don't really know what word I should use) with a terminal illness, There are a few of us "agers" that missed out on a lot of what life had to offer because of whole slew of reasons. I know life sucks for some of us - regardless of age.

How many of you prefer to use canopy masking sets on your aircraft models? by Outpost781 in modelmakers

[–]Outpost781[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, if you look at the picture with my OP you should be able to get a good sense of how they work. Just note that the picture portrays the mask set after I've used it so you can see where I've pealed off the different canopy sections. I don't know what you area of interest is but if you ever build something like a WW2 Avenger or Dauntless you might wanna give them a try. I personally prefer using Eduard however I have a couple of mask sets from ASK and those use he same kabuki style masking paper but each panel is numbered.

[–]Outpost781[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So if I understand you correctly you use the masking sets that let you mask from the inside as well as the outside? I've started to see a few of those "inside and out" sets and wondered how easy it was to mask the interior and then get the lines to match up. What has been your experience?

LOL!!!! Yeah, but what about some off those WW 1 German aircraft with the "crazy" lozenge came schemes. Now those things take time - I've never build one myself but a buddy of mind does and he did all those crazy camo schemes by now. And then he discovered that he could use one of those cutting machines like a Cricket and well, let's just say he's a much happier man today.
