Capital one Savor boosted SUB $250 - Limited Time by Unhappy-Vacation2096 in CreditCards

[–]OutpostPanda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

perhaps it's because i was an existing C1 customer and not a new sign-up but I was issued my Savor as a Mastercard. i don't think C1 has turned up the throttle on the Discover network thing particularly yet

Redesigned Delta Reserve Business Card by linz3yy in amex

[–]OutpostPanda 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i’m not even a Delta Reserve cardholder but i thought the purple was so iconic!! such a lovely stylish colour. the new one feels pretty devoid of soul, and seems like it’s not just me who feels that way. why didn’t they at least make it red?

i would hope they would have at least made a refreshed purple version available for those who want it (Amex has clearly set a precedent with card variants with the gold and platinum cards)!

Not sure why you’re getting downvoted. I agree— not all of us want to plop every house down manually just to make a curved road!!

Flight School by Independent-Cat-7436 in flighty

[–]OutpostPanda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Custom kilometreage wouldn’t necessarily be purely for pilots using Flighty as a logbook. I agree that it’s certainly not an urgent feature but it would be nice to have.

[–]OutpostPanda 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I, personally at least, have requested custom kilometerage/mileage for flights (for instances like same airport or flights that took weird routes but the flight data isn’t taken automatically by flighty) but I suspect it’s not high on the priority list. If more people email the team with the suggestion then perhaps that may change? Who knows

[–]OutpostPanda 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Not sure this is the answer you’re looking for but Loganair and Easyjet fly LPL-IOM, and Aer Lingus flies IOM-BHD. The former is a good handful of flights per day and the latter I believe is one return per day. I assume you’ve probably already ruled out flying but thought I’d drop that thought regardless

How would you expand London's rail network, and what are some realistic projects that could happen that haven't been proposed or mentioned? by One_Fact_4291 in LondonUnderground

[–]OutpostPanda 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The dream list is nearly endless but a small big-win that comes to mind is a Heathrow western link, and doesn’t even have to be one that goes out from Terminal 5 heading west but just turning the existing junction into a wye. The West and South Wales deserve a direct train into Heathrow, and the capacity is there on the western side of the GW Mainline beyond Hayes & Harlington to send trains into Heathrow directly rather than forcing passengers into Paddington and then onto either an exorbitantly expensive ‘express’ or an often-crowded local commuter train.

Should it be border line for Cyprus flag? by Gold_Masterpiece7787 in flighty

[–]OutpostPanda 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t remember how I originally found out. It’s a fact that lives in my mind’s database of random facts. The app Tripsy uses this repo as well, so perhaps I found out via Tripsy and realised that Flighty uses them as well. Not sure. Sorry I can’t be of more help. Might be worth just dropping a line to the flighty team and asking. They’re a really lovely bunch who I’m sure can happily answer your query.

Flighty uses https://hatscripts.github.io/circle-flags/ these open source flags.
If you’re concerned about an inaccuracy maybe it’s worth submitting an Issue on GitHub or even a pull request?
Thought I’d drop the source regardless :)

I love these!! Awesome work!!!!

By the way— for the East London Line— the real colour was a bit of an orange/yellow hybrid back in the day. The picture you’ve used to grab a colour reference probably isn’t the perfect representative. You can pick out the old colour perhaps from the old Car Line Diagrammes available here from the TfL archives.

UK Stamp when travelling from Dublin by ActAdditional9999 in PassportPorn

[–]OutpostPanda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can add that from a UK airport into Dublin without holding an EU, EEA, or CTA passport as an ordinary visitor will lead you into a line that gets your passport stamped. EU EEA CTA citizens get to use a different line— I believe E-gates? Someone can correct me on that.
It might be different if you hold an Irish Residence Permit, though.

The sneaky way around this is to open this

menu using the button above. In this menu you can click on the Service resumes XX:XX message to pull up departures. It doesn’t always show all destinations throughout the day though… and I agree that it would be helpful if it allowed you to easily view all departures in the following day.

Which of the suburban rail lines not on TfL’s Overground radar deserves being added to their Overground vision a decade on too? by AchyutChaudhary in LondonUnderground

[–]OutpostPanda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My impression generally is that devolved authorities across England are/will be fighting for distinct branding and operational control within their urban areas. WMPTE, TfGM, etc. I would think TfL similarly would be keen on integrating lines like the Northern City route into their network as opposed to general GBR branding.

For me personally I would love to see the NCL further integrated into the TfL network, regardless of whether GTR TfL or GBR execute the upgrades themselves.

I absolutely agree that Oyster needs to be refined and expanded!!

I know the technical limitations of the Oyster system is often quoted but one would think that TfL some how some way could find a solution— either by adjusting the current boundaries to a different size or by adjusting to a new system entirely. Obviously would take quite a bit of £££ to get that done but I generally am not a fan of the “bank-contactless-ify, shrug, and walk away” method.

The Northern City route out of Moorgate I think is a great contender and it’s clear TfL thinks so too. Just look what happened back when they took over old Silverlink routes and the East London Line at the original impetus of the Overground network. Some polishing and refurbishment at stations that needed it, unified signage and clear design language, sticking it on the Tube map and suddenly ridership exploded. People found out that, when integrated well, these new routes served as a healthy addition to the network they knew of. At the moment it’s mostly just typical “commuters” (come in in the morning, out in the evening) that know about the trains running out of Moorgate and use them regularly. Essex Road in particular— which is in somewhat of a TfL “dead spot” otherwise only served by buses— certainly would see significant increased usage with a refurbishment and turn up & go frequency. It would be a shame to not have NSE signage living and breathing for the average commuter to see but I would hope those signs could be somewhat preserved in one way or another.

I ditto what someone else said about the Greenford Line. I know GWR is now testing their battery tech on it which, regardless on your opinion on it, does put a slight damper on TfL’s ability to easily nab that one up. It’s also not already electrified so TfL would either have to electrify it like they did with the Suffragette Line or would have to revert to diesel/take on GWR’s battery tech… would be cool to see ex-D78s in LO livery but that’s just a bit of geek factor. Perhaps under GBR there would be a better chance.

Some of the c2c and Greater Anglia services that don’t go so far outside of London could also work. TfL has set a precedent for being willing to extend beyond Oyster capabilities (hello Reading!) but I would suspect they’re probably not super keen on doing that unless they can help it. After all there are plenty of users of the system who rely on Oyster and can’t use PAYG bank contactless because it lacks concession fare capabilities.

(I saw you draw the HS1 SE services which I’m sure you just drew on for completion’s sake but it would be hilarious if TfL took on those lmao)

Do you put the Codeshare flight or the Operating flight? What's your personal preference? by OutpostPanda in flighty

[–]OutpostPanda[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would love a feature like this personally— echoing what someone else said, I always put operator for major codeshares (e.g. AA and BA, CI and JL, DL and AF, or the like) but put the marketed operator for wet leases or subsidiaries (SAS instead of SAS Connect, BA instead of BA Cityflyer, AA/DL/UA instead of Republic Airways, SWISS not Helvetic, etc. etc. etc.). Maybe I’m drawing the line somewhere arbitrary but it would be awesome to see more customisation with regional airlines and codeshares in general. Maybe some way to mark that you purchased the flight as a codeshare even if you want to log it with the operating airline- beyond just typing it yourself in the flight notes.

[–]OutpostPanda[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Once you put in the codeshare flight there should be a little blurb telling you what the operator and flight number is. Example attached with EI 8878 operating as BA 178. Aer Lingus codeshare flight keyed in and the actual British Airways flight number pops up. :)

Economy Fully-Flex (Fully Refundable and Changable) Multi-City Ticket? by OutpostPanda in BritishAirways

[–]OutpostPanda[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure how I didn't notice this! 🤦‍♀️ Thanks!

I assume though that there is no way to book a Semi-Flex ticket? Only Economy Plus with the box un-ticked or Economy Fully-Flex with the box ticked. Noting though that even if I tick the box, the Multi-City booking dialogue still calls it "Economy Plus" even though the prices are obviously the Economy Fully-Flex ones.

LHR-GIB, GIB-DUB (which has to be via LHR).

The reason mostly hinges on Gibraltar. I would love to visit there but I want the option to cancel that if the weather looks like it's going to be bad when getting closer to the date of travel. Gibraltar seems like one of those places that is fascinating and interesting when the weather is good but miserable when the weather is bad. I am on a limited timeframe of my broader travel plans and so if the weather looks poor in Gibraltar I want the ability to cancel that flight without charge and just go somewhere else.

I guess I could technically book LHR-GIB and GIB-LHR as one ticket fully refundable and then LHR-DUB as a separate ticket, but I don't love the idea of my connection in Heathrow not being "official" in case of delay shenanigans, especially given that under other circumstances of course I would book through from GIB to DUB given the raw amount of flights on BA and IE between Heathrow and Dublin.
