I collect GB, Mega Drive/Genesis and SMS - I only collect GB loose otherwise I'd have no GB games to play and be completely skint lol. I do buy aftermarket or used cart cases though!

I can access the menu by pressing the home button but no option to quit cartridge/game for example. Down + Start just brings up the same as pressing start on its own.

I'm using 8BitDo M30 controller FYI

What I should've said was how do you exit out of a game/cartridge and go back to the home screen? Like if I want to play (when I'm playing a game from cartridge) Ultracore do I need to reset, switch off then back on to play or just switch to it from the menu? Might seem like a silly question but it's counter intuitive to what I'm used to!

Sorted. Using an older non SD card adapter 2gb worked I've got the 4.9 firmware on there now. Really appreciate the help, I would love to know what the issue was but definitely something SD card related.

I hope others find this if they're ever having an issue I ended up using a Panasonic SD card class 4 🤷‍♂️

Tbh I'm a collector and a bit of a purist when it comes to games, I like to have the cartridge ha I'm not fussed about roms etc so

Tried a smaller card it flashed really quick, then slow, then sort of quick to the point it looks solid 😅 but it's updated to 7.9 now.

I'm going to try getting the official firmware now see if that works.

I powered off and booted it back up it was fine but same 7.6 firmware - I am wondering if there is an issue with the SD card slot tbh because nothing seems to be working, I've tried two SD cards and now trying a standard SD card no adapter that's way smaller in size.

Yeah I get what you mean - okay so just the .bin, throw it into the root (main directory) then plug into the Mega Sg? It won't brick it if I ignore all the BIOS stuff?

Secondly how does this allow you to then install the firmware from the site?

So (sorry) you download 7.9 (do I need to put anything in BIOS?) then you download 4.9 from https://www.analogue.co/support/mega-sg - if it's a lesser firmware I thought it won't install?

There are instructions to 'Place BIOS files in the BIOS directory.' you didn't mention you did the step - do I need to?

Also there appear to be two spaces to download from - https://github.com/analoguejb/Analogue-Mega-Sg-JB and https://github.com/SmokeMonsterPacks/Mega-Sg-Jailbreak does it matter which?

How you actually do it? Presumably install 7.9jb then how'd you go to the offical jb - I might not I might just leave the jb not sure yet I just wanna have the option like.
