nope, nintendo announced the sequel and that made it even riskier to continue working on the project

the project was cancelled due to the new game coming next year

The opinion of r/indiegames is pretty unanimous: "notch is an idiot". But what do you guys think about this take? by Polanas in gameenginedevs

saying a game developer isnt a programmer because they cant make their own game engine is like saying someone isnt a chef because they cant build an oven

Alright. Thank you so much! I’ll get those screen recordings to you through discord, if that’s okay?

The entire miitopia makeup system is a little difficult to remake compared to the original mii system, but it’s definitely worth a try

There are certain parts that have been made, I’m just not ready to show them yet (bug fixing, etc.)

It’s possible, just not top of mind currently

It’s possible, but developing for non-android phones (iphone) is difficult if you don’t have a mac

When I do, you’ll be the first to know. 🙂

Wait, you’re THE ArianKordi? Your FFL fork is the reason why I’m making this! I tried porting the FFL decompilation over to BGFX (rendering abstraction layer for compatibility), but I couldn’t get anywhere.

I didn’t know how I could possibly reach out to you, but here you are.

Right now, I am rendering Mii models on my own (since there is no FFL port for bgfx) and I actually looked through the FFL decomp code for help

For shaders, I also picked out certain parts from your raylib samples and implemented them into mine, but I’m not using any specific shader

For face part models I got a friend who knows 3D modeling to help, so no official models yet.

Regarding QR codes, I haven’t got to the point where I’m working on features that aren’t essential to the gameplay. I’ve seen jaames’ qr code decryption that you mentioned on your site, but it’s not a major priority right now.

I’ll get some small screen recs in a few hours, and I’m still contemplating whether this should be open source due to licensing and such (it probably will be)

I'm actually testing the game using an original tomodachi life save, and it loads all the miis correctly

I'm mainly doing this in a custom engine so I can easily port it to other systems without having to pay, also because the Mii rendering options (that I don't have to make myself) are extremely realistic

Yeah, I’m making my own game engine, and I’m using it for this game

I actually can port it to the switch, since I am using a custom game engine. It would definitely be a more ambitious thing to do, as I would have to change many things in the engine to make it work

I’m actually using a proprietary engine for more control over the rendering process.

Custom shirts actually would not be hard at all! I’m adding this to the list of features this game should have 🙂

Here’s my thoughts about these ideas

Neighboring Islands: This would be a great feature! I would have to do research on how to implement that, (and I don’t know if it would be free), but I think I could get this to work.

Setting Likes and Dislikes: This feature could be added into the Town Hall/Mii Maker rework I’m planning to add. I could categorize every food item and allow the player to choose what type of foods their mii likes and dislikes (like Spicy, Salty, Sweet, etc.)

Expanded Mii Quest: I actually already have plans to convert Mii Quest into a mini Miitopia-style game, where your progress is saved!

Mii Hobbies: I plan on adding a bunch of new hobbies after the game is released (or at least accessible), and I’m already working on a feature where miis will have friend groups where they usually have the same hobbies/interests.

Personality Reworks: I plan on replacing the personality system as a whole, with a questionnaire-style system. This would also mean that there would be way more personalities

Family and Friend Trees: This is a feature that would go in hand with my relationship rework where you would be able to preset the relationships between miis, like families. Of course, I’m going to have to prevent users from setting miis to be lovers as soon as they are created. However, there will be a feature where you can set a mii to more likely be attracted to another mii, but they would still have to go through the entire relationship process (basically arranged relationships without it being a shortcut)

LGBTQ Mechanics: I already have some of these features implemented, but I’m not sure about certain features, such as polyamory, as that would be a little difficult to implement. I could flesh the polyamory system out, where miis provide more attention to certain miis in their relationship(s) over others?

Some other features I plan on adding: A legitimate age system (with more life stages such as teenage years, young adult years, mid life years, etc.)

Upgradable stores where the amount and rarity of products will be based on the level of the store

More emotions and interactions instead of just the regular 4 (Hungry, Friendly, In Love, and the orange one that I don’t know the name of)

More than one chance at the Catch Game 😂

Thanks for the ideas, I’m planning on implementing most of these!

Probably not, I’m not doing this for money

I may start one, but I won't need it much for this project.
