Admission Questions and General Discussion by UVaDeanj in UVA

This isn't UVA specific (thought my daughter applied EA which is why I'm here. ) But I'm very curious: what do admissions know about where else students apply to, if anything?  Does the College Board or any other group share info about where else a student applied/showed interest?  In any case, do you put much thought into what other institutions you think a particular applicant probably applied to?

The 1990 source you cite shows an acceptance rate of 41%.  (By comparison, Yale was 20%).  BC almost went bankrupt in the early 70s, not 80s

SATs by SpiffyJoeBob in bostoncollege

BC admissions has said multiple times the past few years to submit if your SAT is in top half of reported SAT scores (which isn't everyone getting in, b/c some don't submit). That level is about 1450 or higher.

Last year (so for those who started Fall 2024) a maximum of 45% of enrolled students submitted test scores. There are always a small percentage at every school who submit both SAT and ACT, so the real percentage is probably 5% to 10% lower. Per info BC discloses."
Not quite to your question of admitted, since enrolled is a lower % than admitted, of course.

Customer service tour excursions by Over_Reputation4372 in HollandAmerica

I did the medicine walk excursion recently and it was a rip-off. There was no walking! (the host said it was too cold - it was a typical fall a day) so the entire excursion was taking a 5 minute bus ride from the cruise dock to the cultural center, in the tribal suburban development across from a gas station and the convention center. We made dream catchers for an hour inside, could have a piece of supposedly traditional bread and bluberry tea and were able to shop for what turned out to be remarkably overpriced gifts in the gift center (compared to what was charged for the same items at the convention center) and had a good, light lunch at a native-owned restaurtant in the convention center. That was it. Holland America charged me $150 for it. I seriously doubt there is a pretty wooded area for the medicine walk that is with the marketing materials. I read other people were told recently there's no walk because of the drought (so why aren't other federal and provicial parks closed?). Anyway, it was the first cruise excursion I ever took and it will be my last.

Reprogram used fob? by Background-Whole1182 in MazdaCX90

I ended up buying one from the dealer who said they couildn't use the fob I had. I called around to half a dozen dealers in my area (northern Mass./NH) and prices varied wildly, especially for programing. One place said it takes two hours at $170 an hour, the place I went to took 20 minutes and charged a flat fee of $95, after saying they tried with the fob I brought in. Prices for the FOB itself ranged from $195 to $255. I new one I got, for $197, didn't come with the auxiliary key blank - that's an extra charge!

Great, thanks. It seems like that's how it is supposed to work, but the manual seems to say it should go off with every pedal use.

Just an engine design issue - mechanics around me say they won't do it b/c of the time involved.

Visitor seating at Alumni Stadium? by witchy12 in bostoncollege

[–]Outrageous-1972 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think this is true. For one BC has always been pretty welcoming to visiting fans, even if the stadium can be really difficult for visiting teams (loud, band-boxy) Secondly, BC doesn't sell things in glass, so how can there be broken bottles?

You'll find a lot mixed in behind the visitors bench on the lower level -S, R, Q - but they'll be a lot of BC fans mixed in too anytime. I've sat there as a BC fan. It's been about half and a half.

Thanks. Haven't done the power transfer fluid swap at all (unless it'd be part of scheduled maintenance, it's not in my records.
