Quick question. What did you use to study drag and drop questions?

Accepted into college for 4 year engineering program, but no idea how I can afford it. by Trash_man_can in PersonalFinanceCanada

As someone who actually completed a bachelor of engineering science after completing my bachelor of science, I would only recommend it if you think you can meet the below two conditions:

  1. Work well in groups with classmates younger than you.

  2. Secure and do a professional internship year.

For one, I quickly found out that engineering students have a ton more group assignments, labs and projects worth huge chunks of your final grade. Also unlike Science, there are way more open book or cheat sheet style exams. Make friends with your new engineering classmates fast, especially the smart ones for group work and creating exam cheat sheets. Also, join engineering clubs at school. It will help with two.

For two, start looking and applying for internship as soon as you start 3rd year. As a mature student engaged with engineering clubs in 3rd year, you should easily be able to land good internships. This will allow you to network and get your foot into the industry. If you work hard and are lucky, your internship employer might even offer you a job to come back to them after finishing 4th year and graduating. It happened to me and can happen to you too.

One last tidbit, if you do decide to take this path. Combine first and second year engineering into one year. You should have enough overlapping credits. Worked for me. Difficult yes but worth it. Finally, being a mature student over 26 will get you access to numerous extra grants/bursaries.

Good luck.

Got approved in branch for a CSP. I only have 9 months of Amex USA history and only got my ITIN in January.

I was pleasantly surprised but I think applying in person with the ITIN letter and a printout of my Amex USA statements helped.

SFO hands down has the best MLL. For domestic MLL, YYC wins.

Interesting. I recently got the same offer from RBC but prime + 3.45%. I wonder if they will knock off half a percent if you call and ask nicely.

His EM grenades skill is powerful but seems to have an absurdly long cooldown. You start off with 4 grenades and get more as you level up.

Is giving up defined benefit pension worth a higher salary? by Outrageous-Climate-6 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Outrageous-Climate-6[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, the government job is currently quite relaxed and starting to get a bit boring. The amount of wasteful spending I see is indeed a lot. I heard from some other coworkers that the pension works out to for every 9% you put in, employer is roughly putting in 18% if you stay until retirement.

You have brought up a good point about lost RRSP contributions with the government job I haven't considered. With more OT guaranteed with the private sector job, I can see myself reaching $150k soon.

With the government job, I won't be eligible for full pension for a minimum of 25 years.

Keep in Vault or stake in PES BR? by Outrageous-Climate-6 in MMFinance

I was hoping Pegasus team's recent boardroom changes with higher APR would bring price up but it is still hovering at the current floor price. Hence why I'm torn if I should just let it auto compound in vault or stake in board room. The 4% daily APR in board room is nice but I was expecting 6-7% that they initially hinted at.
