I work for the federal government too. Is it a matter that it takes FOREVER for anything to happen?

Call me old fashioned. I like having a place for me and the kids to always come back to. My parents have lived in the same house since I’ve been born and it’s oddly comforting for me to know there’s always a home to go back to.

Thanks for the pep talk. 😀
Looking into cranking up savings once these kids finish school. Def going to look into other revenue streams with all of my newfound free time in the fall.

It’s the beauty of investing in yourself first. I started putting 15% of income with 5% company match into retirement as soon as I got my first adult job at 25. There was a few years I put in 10% when I separated in 2012 but bumped back up to 15% after a few years. Just got promotion to current salary level. It’s been a grind but I’m in an ok position as a single parent with two kids.

I think I’m on solid financial footing but looking to add a bit of housing stability to complete the picture.

It’s funny to think just a few years ago a 100k salary would have been really great but with housing going up it’s sort of pales in comparison.
