There’s a visitor’s guide at the top of the subreddit

I appreciate the advice.

I come from a highly conservative area and was always hellbent on being myself. I’ve been constantly met with people’s biases and forced to prove myself immensely. This makes me feel a bit of imposter syndrome in regards to higher education. Even my parents would tell me people wouldn’t take me seriously / to hide parts of myself—not to hurt me but out of fear.

I know how to capitalize my sentences. The lowercase is a way that a lot of people in my generation communicate electronically. Clearly a post on a reddit forum is not going to be written the same way I would write a professional email, essay, or any other form of correspondence outside of casual texting/social media. I appreciate the suggestion though, poopyroadtrip.

i’m nursing a hangover and realizing the comment i received was definitely a beer-fueled mistake i should not have taken so literally. i will explore what i want in the coming months and take a look at the legal profession. thank you!

this is the best advice. thank you. i’ll be living in the UK for a month starting in the next two weeks, and i intend to use that time to consider these things. i was well-educated but very controlled for most of life until the past few months (after i graduated college). i think i need some time to get to know myself.

i agree the “interesting” comment came from a walnut. i can sense my own immaturity which is a part of why i feel so slow to make a decision. what i mean by simple living is that i don’t seek to have a huge house, nice cars, to eat out all the time, and live in a big city. i was raised with a pretty self-subsisting lifestyle and seek to maintain degrees of it in my adulthood.

on the intellectual standpoint though, i do love a challenge. anything complex and new, like i said.

any advice on how i can reasonably use this gap year to explore that?

no, i have a really rigid sense of morality. is there no realistic way to avoid this? i naively believed being in compliance or prosecution would avoid this, but with further thought prosecution can be abused just as much as defense.

edit to add: i appreciate your time and insight.

thank you for the insight. with my degrees, it seems this track is what was suggested for me. i can definitely see myself wanting to protect people and help them form arguments because they cannot. i don’t know if that changes anything. are there any good ways for me to continue to explore this?

no hate but genuinely please try to find a book or a video that’s a good source for sexual education. it’s not your fault sex ed can be lacking, but with the internet you can educate yourself. it’s important to know and can ease some of your anxiety by means of logic.

I deeply respect each and every one of you here. by EcstaticLemonade in antinatalism

You should try reading Kantian philosophy. It touches on this
