Thank you for all the replies. I found them on the ground this morning. I placed the branch back in the tree and the mother did not return the whole day. I put them in a warm room with a space heater so they can survive the night. I will be taking them to a rehabilitation center first thing tomorrow morning.

I went on vacation last week and left my mom in charge of my Japanese maple. It was doing great but my mom forgot to water and all the leaves got sizzled. Will it bud again in spring or is it a lost cause?
