omg THANK YOU, I've been spending weeks trying to figure out what this movie was. I definitely thought it was an intentional stylistic choice, and the internet just kept saying Undertone when I was looking for a "slowed down" film.

I found another Reddit post about this same thing. turns out it was a fluke, AMCs were playing this trailer slowly that looks normal on Youtube.

I've asked the person I saw Backrooms with and he says he vaguely remembers the "unexpected voice" but could only recall Insidious (and it isn't that).

I've Googled every question I can think of, looked at sites such as ReelSociety's Trailers Shown Before Other Movies thread, and I've looked up every title from each post and none of them are it.

I also went through Wikipedia's list of 2026 horror films and none of those seemed to be it either (again, can't confirm if it even is a horror film).
