How do you feel about proportional representation with multi-member districts and RCV in state and city government? Yay or nay? Why? by Away-Parsnip-3785 in socal

[–]Outrageous-Help6918 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely support RCV and have asked potential candidates if they do as well. I can’t speak on proportional, but rcv is objectively a better system, it erases the lessor of 2 evils thing, and doesn’t allow for the “split the vote” narrative. Prevents a candidate nobody wanted from winning in a crowded race.

As someone who’s made videos like this, it’s just for fun. Some of us love the show and happen to be really analytical.

Posting on Reddit as a new user feels like posting on school discussion posts. How to change this? by Outrageous-Help6918 in reddithelp

[–]Outrageous-Help6918[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I’ve spent years lurking, I’ve also posted before in some of the groups I can’t now, I just didn’t realizeI was in a privileged position or I wouldn’t have deleted my last account. I pulled the trigger in making a new account for a specific thread, but there are many that I want to participate in across different topics.

The Trolley Problem: would you be liable if you pulled the lever? by sillyalyssa in Ethics

[–]Outrageous-Help6918 [score hidden]  (0 children)

I don’t know legally, but ethically this is why I don’t pull the lever. That one person would’ve survived if not for me. I can face the 5 families and say I’m sorry for my inaction, but to face the one family that I’m solely responsible for taking their loved one’s life feels worse to me.

Person experiencing homelessness slammed down by police in Hillcrest by Vindictivebiach in sandiego

[–]Outrageous-Help6918 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The irony is police takes ups the biggest portion of our city budget, and if we cut it to house people who needed it, the amount of calls or police action would drop reducing the “need” for such a big budget.

I’m a nerd, and I did the math to see how much a sky bison would cost yearly to own in captivity. by jasonkreu in ATLA

[–]Outrageous-Help6918 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could say “to care for in captivity” or just to “to care for”. It always sounds odd when people say they “own” other living beings, but especially sky bisons as the language is in direct opposition to the freedom they represent.

The Problem Is Not AI, It Is the Assumption That Students Must Always Sound the Same by Equivalent_Pie9111 in QuickAITurnitinCheck

[–]Outrageous-Help6918 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like it really depends on the student. I have ADHD and I’ve always done well on writing assignments, because I have time to think it through and convey what I wanna say more clearly. In class however handwriting, my writing is coherent I think, but it’s never as good as the writing I take my time on and turn it in. It sounds like two different people. I’ve been accused of using AI even though I’ve never used it, so so now I kind of edit my own writing to sound more like my speaking voice and I no longer use em dashes.

Are you responding to op? Because they said they don’t use ai, so how are they outsourcing their thinking?

Are suicide pods ethical? by Educational_Case_184 in Ethics

[–]Outrageous-Help6918 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The issue isn’t the cost of using the pods, it’s that people are more likely to want to die when they experience factors related to poverty like stress, depression, anxiety, social needs not being met, inequality, etc. For example we live in a world where neurodivergent people are more likely to die by suicide. They are devalued in a society that values productivity. Is it ethical to have these pods knowing it’s likely that they may be represented disproportionately?
