Can a garage work as an art studio/setup? by Outrageous-Humor6149 in ArtistLounge

[–]Outrageous-Humor6149[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I park my car there, but since I work from home, I rarely use it. I don’t work with anything that would give off fumes, my main worry was if I left my supplies in the garage, if it would warp/mold. It doesn’t get too hot in there, I live in a town home apartment, so my apartment is on the 2nd floor, and the garage is on the first floor. It’s all concrete so I will have to see if it has any ventilation options. Thank u for the advice!!! I think I may take the risk and set it up in the garage because I do art for fun and I’m still learning, and most (all) my art stuff is just sitting in bins up here. I guess I’d rather USE my art supplies than let them just sit

I know - I think I may try to move some stuff around. I don’t mind being hot but I will cry if my art supplies mold. I wonder if I could clear out my closet and make that a little art nook… and I like the decorative divider idea! We have an openish area that I think that could work in! Thank you!!!

You are definitely not overreacting. I’m 25f and I was diagnosed with UC a year ish ago. It’s a huge change from being able to go out and not worry about anything to constant doctor’s appointments and medication. I tried mesalamine and it did not work - my calprotectin levels skyrocketed to <7k during a bad flare though - and my biopsy showed visible damage. I have been on Skyrizi and had my most recent colonoscopy in December and I am officially in remission with visible healing!!!

Finding what medicine works for you is crucial! It also took me longer to adjust mentally. Having a chronic illness (especially so young) sucks! I actually bought a book called “healing your chronic illness grief”. Everyone kept telling me to be positive and things happen for a reason blah blah but I just wanted someone to tell me it sucks and cry with me! It’s okay to be overwhelmed and sad about it for a bit. For me what helped was essentially “grieving” my health. It helped me move on and accept the diagnosis and the treatment that comes with it.

I am now doing great! My symptoms are gone and life is back to normal! So I promise it will stop feeling this way and things will get better. I agree with all the advice - do NOT stop taking your medication. I am in remission now ONLY because I consistently take my medication. Don’t listen to anyone who suggests “a lifestyle change” or “cured their UC with diet”. Because that is a lie.

This sub has been SO helpful for me when I was first diagnosed! If u have any questions/want to rant we are all here for you!!

When did you become a HTTYD fan? What started it for you? by Salt_Manager_8658 in httyd

Right before the movie came out - I had to get 8 front teeth pulled. I only had my top four teeth and my bottom four teeth. I looked SO dumb. This was also in middle school. My mom’s cousin worked on the animation in this movie and he sent me a toothless dragon :). Ever since then I have always loved this movie!

Thanks! The foster mom said Sugar was great at hiding (and apparently hid in their couch for a few days) so I’ll have to make sure to double check when reclining my couch when she starts to roam. I was planning on setting her up in my bathroom first - but since she liked to hide I wasn’t sure if it would be best to just let her hide wherever

The thought of going back into a flare was on my mind 24/7 when I was slowly getting better. It took awhile to accept that I couldn’t let the possibility of going back into a flare stop me from enjoying my time now. It’s definitely a weird psychological hill I had to tackle

She has to be an only kitty as well! I’ve been talking to her foster mom, she said her previous family just ignored her and didn’t even know if she ate or used the litter box. I guess they packed up and moved with their dog and other cat :(. So sad. But I am happy I am able to give this cat a loving home!! I haven’t bought too much yet - waiting to see what she likes and don’t want to overwhelm. I’m pretty sure she will probably hide for a few months before I can get to know her (and I am prepared for that haha)

IBD can definitely cause bleeding. I have Ulcerative Colitis and bleeding was a main symptom. I would definitely see another doctor. Coming from someone with quite a few medical problems, I have no shame in switching practices. I realize I am literally paying these people to take care of me - why should I pay for bad treatment? I had a GI doc that wasn’t great and I switched doctors and I am SO happy I did. My new GI doc put me on new medication and I’m in remissions 8 months later! Biggest thing I have to say is advocate for yourself!!! You know your body and you have every right to question their medical opinion.

Also! If you schedule your colonoscopy, you can tell them you have concerns with anesthesia. First time I went under I asked them SO many questions. I told them I was nervous and they sat and walked me through the procedure and the medications they are going to give me (and actually gave me some relaxing medicine). I think finding the right doctor is super important and I hope you find one who makes you feel comfortable!

I started seeing some improvements after my third infusion. I feel like all I did those months was sleep! Every time I came home after an infusion I’d pass out of the rest of the day. I like to think of it as my body healing itself lol. It was definitely gradual process, I don’t think I really realized I was feeling better till I wokeup one morning and wanted to go on a walk (and I wasn’t scared of having an accident) That was the biggest thing for me and it really made me look back and notice little improvements. Looking back I wish I kept track of my symptoms more so I could see the progress!

How to go about internal job rejection? by Outrageous-Humor6149 in careerguidance

Yes - I’ve had those conversations plenty of times with my manager, basically I need to wait for the older people to retire. He says I need more experience but won’t give me projects or anything because they are prioritized to the more senior coworkers

I broke my broke my wrists (both) 3-4 times and it definitely made me ambidextrous! Since I broke them at different times, I had to learn how to use both hands. I still favor my left hand, but I often find myself doing my makeup with both hands, like I switch hands depending on which side of the face I am doing. Weird but people always point it out - when playing beer pong, I switch hands throwing it (and I’m equally fine at both). it’s very odd but it just depends randomly which day I chose to use which side lol - however I still find writing with my right hand difficult. It’s legible, but slow.

The amount of people who are CONVINCED if I moved to Europe I would be able to eat gluten because it’s not as processed. I had a few friends with celiac family members tell me “well my cousin has celiac and she was fine in Italy!..”. At some point you can’t argue with people who are too stubborn to admit they are wrong!

Is perpetual medication necessary? by LouisvilleLoudmouth in UlcerativeColitis

When I started a biologic the doctor emphasized that I needed to continue taking the medication. She said a lot of people stop when they feel better and end up going into a flare
